My friend's brother is in the same field and recently got laid off. He is looking into jobs posted for Jack Henry (in Allen) and UTD. I hope this helps.
Hi Moms. I am not sure if anyone can help but it is worth a try. My husband has been out of work since the summer. He is a software engineer. He has applied for so many jobs but has found nothing. I earn a small income but not enough to pay all the bills. Now it is Christmas time and we are freaking out. We are almost out of money and he still doesn't have a job lined up. Does anyone know anyone looking for someone in this field?
He has been working with recruiters and looking for temp jobs....anything....but no luck.

I'm sorry. I dont have any leads.
My husband is always updating his resume on those places like dice and hotjobs. Every time he updates it, he gets calls from recruiters. I think that's a great way to keep your hat in the game.
Also, keep calling about jobs over the holidays. I read an article once that said at the last minute, some departments find themselves with some money earmarked for hiring that they didnt spend that year. If they dont spend it that year, the next year, it will be taken out of their budget, so they quickly hire someone. We read that, my husband applied for a job the week of Christmas and was hired two days after Christmas. No one else was willing to go on interviews that week, but he was and got the job! So keep looking. It just might happen!
Good luck. I've been there and it STINKS!
I agree with getting your name with a headhunter. My hubby gets calls all the time from headhunters. We are in a different industry but I know software is popular as well.
Like someone else said, Google headhunters in this area and get one to represent you. Only one headhunter comes off the top of my head and I think it is Valient Technology but I am not positive.
If you have not exhausted the unemployment do it. Also, retail may not be exactly what he would like but it could make a few extra bucks.
Best wishes to you.
have him check out all the online job sites...dice, monster, hotjobs, etc. recruiters call my husband often for those types of jobs, and he is a software engineer/support specialist. What he finds though, is there are tons of contract to possibly hire opportunities. Try those out. They may lead somewhere.
Does he have a headhunter working for him? Many tech jobs are given to headhunters to find these companies qualified candidates. Many tech managers don't have the time to search through thousands of resumes so they hire headhunters to do that for them.
There are some tech specific headhunter companies.... he can google the DFW area ones. I forget the names. My husband's in the IT field but they are definitely not hiring right now. Not many companies hire at the end of the year -- they just want to get through the holidays and then they'll get to next year's budget when next year happens. But he should definitely start by giving his resume, etc to a headhunter. He doesn't pay anything to them... the headhunter company gets a fee from the hiring company if they pick one of their recommended candidates.
Also, is he getting his unemployment income?? Or has that expired already?? You can file for unemployment from the state to get a little help. Google unemployment office -- if you don't have this already. Also, if you are getting this help.... taking a part-time or retail job will make this unemployment stop.... so it depends on which would earn you more income for the meantime -- the retail job or the unemployment (which is different for each person).
I'm not sure where you live but I'd try Craigslist.org as well as the Jobs and Networking Forum on Friscoonline.com.
I am so sorry your family is having a difficult time. Your best bet for now is for your husband to take a season retail job. I know it doesn't pay near what you are looking for, but at least it would ease your burden while he continues to search. Retail hours are flexible, which allows for time to interview during the days. He could even look for an overnight stock job. I did that for a while myself at Target. It's not glamorous, but it's money. Another benefit is the employee discount which of course also helps for Christmas buying!
God Bless your family E.,
This is a hard times we are in. My brother-in-law has been out of work for awhile too, he doesn't have the education your husband has. I don't know what a software engineer does, but has he looked into Universities and Colleges around Dallas area?
I'll pray for your family, God Bless!
