My friend's son is turning one and he has allergies to egg, peanuts, soy and I believe wheat. Can anyone share recipes for meals/desserts - or suggest a good cookbook for cooking/baking for kids with allergies?? Thanks!

The best book I've found is the kid friendly ADHD and Autism cookbook, by Pamela Compart and Dana Laake. It is gulten free, casein(dairy) free and give substitutions for eggs, nuts, soy, and corn Plus it has some great info in it about food sensitivities. Very helpful, even if you are not dealing with ADHD or Autism!

There are nutritional options that help minimize allergies, which are generally due to an internal imbalance and not a true "Permanent" allergy. My friends have a child diagnosed with life-threatening peanut and egg allergies, whose allergist now says she is 50% reduced and, in another year, will be peanut-allergy free. This was through nutritional supplementation, not drugs. So there are options available. Many physicians are not food scientists so they tend to use drugs and elimination diets, but your friend might want to network with parents whose children have improved.

I have a peanut, egg, dairy free cookbook I can email to you if you would like. Those are the allergies my son has. It changes everything. If it calls for soy milk you can replace it with rice milk

My niece and nephew have the same allergies. So I use the Cherrywood mixes. You can usually find them in the organic isle as the supermarket( i know that Stop and Shop carries them). They make all different kinds of mixes, like cakes, brownies even frostings and they are really yummy!

Good Luck!

Go to the food allergy network. IT is FAAN.org. They have recipes and a support group for people with allergies.

There's a set of two cookbooks called "Special Diets for Special Kids", that's great.
Also, she should consider doing the GAPS diet - a gut healing diet that can actually lessen or even eliminate food allergies. www.gapsdiet.com

Hi J.,

The recipes on the following site should not have any peanuts, soy or wheat. They may have eggs. http://paleofood.com/
