I'm looking for a non-toxic, eco-friendly wood floor cleaner. Preferably without too strong of a scent. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I used vinegar and warm water on mine. It's cheap, easy, and works better than anything else I've tried.
YMMV

We use Bona, and it's eco-friendly. We got ours from Lowes in a kit with a mop. It's awesome and has very little noticeable scent.

If you have sealed floors. You are cleaning the finish not the wood.

Think of it as cleaning a mirror, you wouldn't clean a mirror or window with an oil based product because it will just make it cloudy. That's what murphy oil's soap and other oil based cleaners.

The best method is a damp mop using a mixture of water and vinegar. The mop shouldn't be dripping wet. After it drys you can go over with an dry micro fiber cloth mop to buff to a shine.

I'm a vinegar fan. It has a smell while you're using it but as soon as it dries the smell is gone. Plus, it helps to repell bugs. We've been having ant issues in our house this spring so I spent Friday and Saturday wiping down the cabinets and walls throughout the house with vinegar.

What about a floor steamer? It just uses plain water. The heat sterilizes.

We use diluted Rustic Touch which is primarily carnauba wax. It scented with orange extract and it works great. It's inexpensive as well.

White vinegar and warm water -- 1 cup vinegar to a gallon of water. Just mop it on and let it dry. The scent goes away very quickly. I had hardwood floors installed a few years ago and it's what the company advises.

What sort of wood finish do you have? The types of ingredients that your wood flooring will tolerate best will depend on the type of finish it's got. Sometimes water-based cleaners (or oil- or wax-based ones) will cause damage and void the flooring warrantee.
