Why have something at night? I think bachlorette parties are over-rated, and often brides regret a lot of stuff the night after. Why do gals feel the need to match or even outdo their male-counterparts with what is really often embarrassing, sometimes incriminating (if there's telling pictures) and unnecessarily outrageous behavior? I mean the whole point of having a bachelorette party is to get "wild" one last time. The atmosphere is just ripe for trouble, whether there is alcohol or not. I just read the most heartbreaking story on ABC.com's website about a bachlorette party gone wrong...leaving the bride paralyzed for life.
This particular bridal party decided to go swimming the night before the wedding. A bridesmaid shoved the bride into the pool for "kicks" and she fell in the wrong way.

If the bride is truly a recovering alcoholic, she need not be anywhere where she'll be tempted. It's also kinda insensitive. Give the gal an elegant tea party in the afternoon or morning with family and friends and call it done. That's what women did in the old days...get an Emily Post ettiquette book (pre-1970's) and you'll get plenty of classy and appropriate bridal party ideas.
