Does anyone have any ideas for a bachlorette party for a recovered alcoholic who doesn't want the traditional bachlorette style party. I was thinking spa day, but what to do at night? Please give me some ideas you may have!

What can I do next?

Spa day sounds GREAT.

I've been to tons of alcohol free bachelorette or hen parties. About half involved strippers. They were just hired to come out to location instead of going to a bar. About 1/3 that weren't had massage therapists come out and do 30 minute massages on guests in a different room. Some were spa days (or spa nights), some were BBQ's, some were amusement park stuff, one was at a museum, on was at a blues club, another was a henna party.

I like the passion party idea as well! Haven't been to one of those yet!

A couple of people did respond to doing a passion party in the evening, I think that's a great idea. I sell PartyGals, which is the same line of products. I am located just down the road from you. If interested, give me a call and we can set it up.

you really don't need to do anything at night if you are doing the spa day. But if it is a full day, you could just do dinner and dessert. I had 3 pregnant ladies at mine and we had dinner and just went out dancing for a little bit. To avoid all the tacky stuff if you want, get her a tiara and boa at Claires or something.

My friend had her bachlorette party at a skating rink! She is also a recovering alcoholic. It was a blast!

Alcohol does not need to be involved to have a great time. You can still go dancing, to a fancy restaurant where you all get dressed up or go miniture golfing/bowling, etc.

Think outside the box and have fun!!

The skating rink sounds really fun! You could also do a bowling alley too...do you have Lucky Stike? It's way more posh and fun than the regular alleys.

I also had the thought of doing a Passions party at someone's home. It's got a distinct bachelorette vibe to it, but certainly doesn't require alcohol. You could have food, dessert and mocktails, like virgin cosmos or something fruity. I'm sure you could google a Passion Party rep in your area. They are actually kind of fun and they have everything from tame to not so tame, but nothing super gross or anything.

Have fun!

Why have something at night? I think bachlorette parties are over-rated, and often brides regret a lot of stuff the night after. Why do gals feel the need to match or even outdo their male-counterparts with what is really often embarrassing, sometimes incriminating (if there's telling pictures) and unnecessarily outrageous behavior? I mean the whole point of having a bachelorette party is to get "wild" one last time. The atmosphere is just ripe for trouble, whether there is alcohol or not. I just read the most heartbreaking story on ABC.com's website about a bachlorette party gone wrong...leaving the bride paralyzed for life.

This particular bridal party decided to go swimming the night before the wedding. A bridesmaid shoved the bride into the pool for "kicks" and she fell in the wrong way.

See: http://abcnews.go.com/US/bride-paralyzed-freak-bacheloret...

If the bride is truly a recovering alcoholic, she need not be anywhere where she'll be tempted. It's also kinda insensitive. Give the gal an elegant tea party in the afternoon or morning with family and friends and call it done. That's what women did in the old days...get an Emily Post ettiquette book (pre-1970's) and you'll get plenty of classy and appropriate bridal party ideas.

For my party we did mani/pedis and went out for a late dinner at a tapas restaurant. It was a great way to share a fun evening!

Make your own pizza party...you supply the ingredients and everyone puts together their own pizza. Go to the movies or rent some. Play board games...you could even give out small prizes to the winners. Go bowling, although there would be alcohol there. Indoor miniature golfing. Host a Lia Sophia, Silpada, Tupper ware, etc. party with the free stuff going to the bride. Look around at what is your community and you should be able to find something to do. Good luck!!

You could always go out to a really nice dinner -the money everyone saves on booze could cover a great meal! Also -paint your own pottery places are lots of fun -people could paint serving platters, bowls and frames for the bride to be. Not sure what she's "into" but the Passion Parties are LOTS of fun and don't require booze! They're like Tupperware parties -in a home -and women only, but the sell sex toys, lotions, lubes, lingerie and stuff. Brides get a deal!

If you live near a city with a good theater, and she likes that, you could all go see a play or comedy performance. A lot of theaters have "improv nights" with improv comedy troups that are hilarious and fantastic! While alcohol is served and some people drink -it's in no way required and you wouldn't feel weird not drinking.

I've been to a progressive dinner type bachelorette party that was awesome. We had appetizer and one restaurant and then main course at another and dessert at another. Take her to all her favorite places or unique restaurants that she might not have been to otherwise.

You could always go out to a show or concert, if you find one you like nearby. Or even a sporting event, if you're into sports. It'll keep it fun and interesting. Or a hotel with an indoor water park too, it's fun for adults too, not just kids. Have a good time!

A friend of mine did a bachelorette party for her sister who does not drink. she did a spa night. she hired me to do eyebrow waxes (i'm an esthetician) and then she posted an add on craigslist for a woman to do massages and 2 women to do pedicures. she set up stations for everyone and you got to pick which ones you wanted to get done. the girls had a blast!
i was pregnant for my bachelorette party so my friend planned a shower during the day and then we all went to the acme comedy club in minneapolis. it was a lot of fun. everyone dressed in black and i was in white. another idea is maybe renting a cabin (have guests pitch in) in brainerd or stillwater something and having a girls weekend filled with shopping and fun!

Yes yes yes on spa day. Do dinner with a twist. mine was Moroccan and if memory serves, there were belly dancers- It made it interesting. As for later in the night, all depends where you live. Some spas are open late. You could do a girls shopping day and spa at night.

When I turned 30 i arranged to Hike a mountain instead of party. It turned into a great camping weekend. Something like that could really make for good female bonding. Also, a bundgie jumping excursion.

I like the spa day suggestion. A great way for all to relax and enjoy being with girlfriends (or meeting people for the first time!). It can be a 4 hour long day and no need to go further into the evening.
Hope this helps a bit!

You could make it a spa night and have people come in that do massages, manicures, etc and just hang out and chill at someone's house. Maybe even a pj party and watch movies and have good old fashioned fun!

I've been to two alcohol-free bach parties. Both were during the day and both were a lot of fun and the brides were very happy. One was a spa day - everyone went out to a nice lunch, then to a fancy spa for massages, facials, or whatever treatment they chose. We had fun sitting in the jacuzzi chatting.

The other was an afternoon tea at the Ritz Carlton hotel. Right on the beach with beautiful views. It wasn't anything like your traditional bach party, but it was a very nice afternoon and perfect for the bride.

Bowling! I used to waitress at a bowling alley and we'd have parties like this-no alcohol served. We'd still make non-alcoholic drinks in the fancy glasses. Check around to see if you have Cosmic bowling or something like that. Great music, great times!

Do you have a casino near you? I suggest that because there is so much to do at a casino, aside from gambling and drinking. Most big casinos have a hotel and spa on site. And also have shopping, shows, restaurants and dance clubs.

I'm a Zumba teacher and around here I have heard of some bachlorette parties having a girls Zumba party prior to going out. You could do that, followed by, spa, followed by Melting Pot or some special restaurant.
