I am wondering if I can take any carseat on the airplane when we go to Disney World? Can someone go over special rules about flying with children and check in luggage vs carry ons. I am also looking for a used sit/stand stroller for the trip.

What can I do next?

Tracy,
I'm a mom of 2 very young ones. You can take any carseat you have on the plane. My son was 2 going on 3 when we flew this summer. I don't take a car seat on the plane. I'm not sure why we just never felt the need to. We also have a joovy sit and stand stroller. They have a double and of course a single.

Remember if you haven't already find out the earliest you can schedule a meal with the characters. The kids will absolutely love this. You can do it through disney reservations or if you are staying on property then through your hotel.
Have fun, take lots of water and sunscreen!!!!

check everything it makes it much easier. attach the carseat to a luggage roller to use in the airport. much easier than juggling a carseat for the plane and a stroller for the airport. too much to carry and mess with. just take what you will need for the plane. snacks, diapers, quiet distracting toys ( a video ipod with headphones downloaded with favorite movies.),a change of clothes for child and a new shirt for mom. he could get plane sick and you dont want to smell like it arriving at WDW. have fun

Well I travel with 3 kids ages 5 6 and 6 months and we travel every other month- we have already done disney. You can take any carseat on the plane- ages of the kids would help with giving you better advice. Have they ever flown before? Any allergy problems? I have a very old sit and stand stroller we use for travel- it is light blue in color and has primary color animal prints now that we have the baby my other two are not at all interested in the sit and stand you are welcome to buy it. I liked it because if it got lost or stollen i was never ever worried about it. We did disney last October I can give you plenty of advice on that as well. My email is ____@____.com
good luck B.

I just got back from a trip with my three year old and it was the first flight where I didn't take the car seat. I was traveling alone with her and didn't want to hassle with the large car seat, on top of my daughter's liquid meds, the portable DVD player and the laptop computer. I planned the flight when I thought she would be most likely to nap. With the car seat, she always slept for some portion of the flight, but on this flight, she couldn't get comfortable and ended up being cranky.

The pros of the car seat:
* more comfortable for the child
* safer if there is turbulence

The cons:
* bulky - just one more hassle to deal with in security and getting on/off the plane
* if your child is tall, the car seat gives them easier access to kicking the seat in front of him/her
* depending on the size of the seat, it might mean less room for whoever sits in the middle seat

For carry ons - you can take a diaper bag and a carry on for your child. The diaper bag is like taking a purse or laptop along with a carry on. Each child with a ticket can take 2 checked bags, just like an adult. I'm not sure if you have an infant traveling for free if you can still take 2 bags per traveler or not. When I took my daughter on trips as an infant, we had two bags total (one for clothes and one for toys, etc.).

Have a great trip!
