Affordable Side-by-side Double Stroller?

Can anyone recommend or share their experiences with side-by-side double strollers? I'd rather not spend hundreds of dollars if it can be avoided, but don't want to end up with a really junky stroller either. Planning to use it for walks around town where sidewalks are iffy so good maneuverability is a priority. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I LOVED my McClaren. Actually, if you live anywhere near New England, you can have mine for next to nothing. My girls won't sit in it anymore.

I liked it because it's the narrowest stroller out there. It'll fit through any doorway easily. It folds up easily and is pretty compact. When my girls were little, I couldn't go grocery shopping with a cart (where would I put the food once two babies were in there?), so I used to hook a basket to either handle and I could do a major shop! The down side is that it doesn't have a drink holder.

Let me know if you want to take it off my hands!

The Maclaren Twin Techno and Twin Triumph are both great - I can't remember which one is cheaper, but one of them is about $100 less than the other. They fit in all standard doorways, are easy to fold and unfold, and fit in my trunk - I have a Camry, not a big SUV, and some of the other strollers didn't fold up small enough or light enough to put in the trunk. I can actually fit my single, and my double, strollers in the trunk b/c they are so small when folded.
On the not so great side, the Peg Aria Twin really did not work for me - pain to open and close, and the wheels always seemed out of alignment. It may just have been my stroller, but I also have a single Peg Pliko, and I feel like I have the same problem with that one. They're a little pricey to experience that type of alignment issue.

If you need it just for walks, I agree about instep double jogging stroller with front Sweevle wheel from Walmart, you can find Maclaren on Craigslist for less than $100. However side by side are a pain in the stores.

I have the Baby Jogger City Series Double. It cost a fortune ($500?) but you might be able to find it on eBay or Craigslist for a decent price. It's the best stroller I've ever used. I've jogged with only one kid in it and I can't even tell a difference. It fits through all doors no problem, folds up small (Camry trunk fits no problem) and is only 25 pounds. My kids are 19 months and 5.5 months so I knew making an investment like this would be OK. The kids LOVE this stroller and we got rid of all our other strollers.

I have only used a double stroller once, it was with my nieces. I found that the tandem stroller was very difficult to maneuver. I have heard that the side by side is best. As for purchasing one, I don't blame you for not wanting to spend a lot of money on one. I know that in Princeton Burough there is a consignment shop call Milk Money and they had a bunch of strollers/joggers in good condition the last time I was there. I don't know the name of the street its on but it is right next to the Spring St parking deck.
Hope this helps

If you can't take Amy P up on her generous offer, InSTEP - Run Around Double Jogging Stroller, wal-mart $164.88. Works great.
