If he wants to pee, but doesn't want to try training pants, have you considered using "big boy" underwear? I never used pull-ups (or their equivalent) on my girls, instead switching straight to undies. Good luck!
My 25-month-old son has been urinating on the potty, and now the toilet, about four times a day since he was 22 months old, and expressed interest solely on his own. He fulfills all the "readiness" signs that the books and websites list, but today, when I tried to put him in training pants (Easy Ups) for the first time, he refused and ran away. Anyone have a similar situation? Does this mean he's not ready yet, and I should hold off, or should I try again soon?

There isn't anything wrong with potty training him with diapers. Those pullups and easy ups are just diapers that are attached on the sides twice as expensive and not really worth it. They really don't allow the child to feel wet even the ones that claim they do. They make cloth training underwear you can find at several cloth diaper websites. They allow the child to tell if they wet they outer shell is water proof and they make thicker ones to use at night. Or if he is comfortable in diapers let him potty train in diapers what do you think they did before huggies and pampers came out with their newest way to rip people off.
I cant give you any advice, but just wanted to let you know that my 26 month old son does the same thing...hates pull ups and refuses to wear them. Next time I go to Walmart I am going to by him big boy underwear and just do it that way.
you may even try the heavy training pants he may not like the idea of the diaper thing. i found the training pants were helpful use at night but during the day they didn't sense the wetness like the heavy training pants good luck. K. mother of 11 13 8 and 18 mths
Hello! Potty training is such a big step, and it sound like your son is well on his way. So many things can cause setbacks in the process, even when you think the child is very close to being completely potty trained. Don't underestimate the power of a child's will to be in control of the potty training process. Any stress or change in a toddler's life can affect their "progress" with potty training. Even though the training pants seem like a step in the right direction, maybe your son's resistance is his way of exerting his independence. Maybe you could keep the training pants in a basket in the bathroom so he can see them, but don't put any pressure on his to wear them. This may sounds silly, but I also bought some fun character underpants that were large enough to fit over a diaper as one of my sons transitioned to the potty. Just keep encouraging him when he does use the toilet, and the rest will eventually follow. Good luck!
No real "educated" advice here, as my son is 22 months and doing some potty, but still in diapers. But...
some of the moms mentioned going straight to big boy undies- if you are worried about this (especially since you have twins- you probably don't need any more trouble or messes!), maybe using cloth training pants? they are basically big boy undies with extra fabric (cheaper then in the long run than disposables). i saw some super cute ones on etsy.com (search "diapers" in the children/baby catagory). i know that some of the waytoomany baby catalogues that show up at my doorstep also have the same sort of absorbant undies. just a thought...
