Advice on Selecting Doctors in Carbondale Area

Our family of three have recently relocated to Carbondale and need some advice on selecting the following doctors:
1. Pediatrician for 3-month old: Dr. Korte at the Center for Medical Arts has already been recommended but turned us away as she is not already seeing an older sibling?! And Dr. Ploegman does not accept our insurance. Any other positive/negative recommendations of local doctors would be appreciated.
2. Doctor for womanly check-ups: I don't think I'll have another baby in the short time we'll be living here so I'm debating between a general practitioner or an OB-GYN.
3. Specialists- ENT, Audiologist, Vision: I would need to find myself doctors that cover all of these specialty areas.

Thanks in advance for any/all responses!

For a Pediatrician I can't give you any good recommendations because I take my two kids to Dr. Salem who is a family practitioner and I don't think he is taking new patients, but it doesn't hurt to try if you aren't set on just a pediatrician. as for an OB-GYN I whole heartedly recommend Southern Illinois OB-GYN with Dr. Tsung, Dr. Schneider, Dr. Jones and they have a new Dr. that I haven't met but have heard really good things about. As for Vision I go to the Marion Eye Centers because they are the only ones that take my insurance and they aren't bad, but they aren't great either. The dr. that I really liked there has retired and I haven't found one that I can't do without yet.

Good luck with finding a doctor for yourself and your wonderful baby boy. Welcome to the Carbondale area!

Welcome to Carbondale. I don't have any suggestions for your specialists, but I've seen Dr. Harmann at New Horizons forever, she delivered both kids not 21 and 17. I see her nurse practioner quite a bit too, and like her, also.

My kids saw Dr. Churling at Center for Medical Arts, I thought she over tested a bit, but didn't fight me if I had other ideas. When I had some issues with referrals to specialist - she was great, really went the extra mile.

Many practices are full, I wish you luck!

I would highly recommend So Il OBGYN, Drs. Jones, Schneider, and Tsung. I went to them the first time right before we got pregnant with our first son. I loved all of the doctors there. They were fantastic with me through the whole pregnancy. They came highly recommend to me by 5 other people. I just wish they did pediatrics too!

Have you looked at other doctors in the Center for Medical
Arts? "CMA" or the old name is the Clinc. Dr. Kurt Martin does babies and older children-however you have to check to see if any of them have openings right now. There is a great Ob-Gyn group at New Horizens or Dr. Bishop is also great both are in Carbondale. For an Ent-I strongly recommend Dr. Hal Pearlman-he does all ages and works with kids and ear plug surgery if they need that. Don't know what their policies are for insurance you will need to check that when you talk to them. Good luck and Welcome to the Carbondale area.
