My son is 2 years old and wants to use the potty, my question is how do you potty train a boy? He went on the potty for the first time yesterday (YAY!!) but he peed all over the cabinet @ daycare!! This is my first son and I'm @ a loss, do you teach them to stand @ this age or sit and if they sit how do you keep the pee in the potty?

What can I do next?

My boys both started off sitting down and they push their "pee pee" down before they start. My 2 1/2 yesr old still sits and my four year old started standing about a year ago.

Congrats at the early training and Good Luck!

Yeah, I am right there with you! My son is 2.5 and he has been trained to sit, and push "it" down:) He does insist on taking everything off on the bottom, so that he can scoot all the way back, and try to get his pee to hit the water. I dont think he will stand until he is tall enough to do it at any bathroom we may visit..maybe in another year or so. I hope it all works out for you!! ~A.~

I am a mother of 3 boys. My first one, I had no clue... The 2nd and 3rd, no problem. What really helped is letting them watch daddy stand up and pee. I'd put floating objects in the toilet (cotton ball, etc..) and give them a target. They think it's fun to hit the floating object and feel so proud of themselves once they get the hang of it. Now for #2, that takes longer. Make sure he knows that if he has a stomach ache to let mommy know and then you sit him down and show him how to aim down in the water. Good luck, hope it helps some.

Have him sit down, some chairs have the "boy" chairs so it help protect everyone from getting urine all over. Have him hold it down too, that way when he's ready to stand he'll already know to hold it instead of letting urine go all over the place.
Good Luck!

first teach your son to potty training sitting down. Once he completely potty trained for both and is accident free, then I would training him to pee standing up
