You know, peppermills are also excellent salt grinders. Get one with her name on it, and then, if they marry, get a matching one with HIS name for a salt grinder! They'll go together like salt and pepper!
:o)
I know its early to be thinking of Christmas shopping (lol), but I'm on a mission to get done early this year :) I'm going to start slowly now and hopefully be done by November. Anyway, I was looking at a gift for a my very dear friend (shes 61, i'm 35 - she became a wonderful friend of the family about 10 years ago - lol if any of that even matters, haha) She has recently talked about wanting a new wood peppermill... So for Christmas I want to get her one thats personalized from the personal creations website. Here's my issue.. She is engaged to a great guy and they live together.. But they have been engaged for quite a while and there really isn't a date set or anything. When I get it personalized do I put her last name on it? Or do I just mabe use her first name? I'm confused ..help :) Here's the ones I'm talking about, trying to figure out which one to pick also.. Thanks :) http://gifts.personalcreations.com/gifts/Designer-Pepperm...
try to click on this one, so you can also help me decide which one to get based on how you think i should personalize it! THANK YOU

Thanks everyone and keep the comments coming :)
No she doesn't have any kids or grandkids :( Sadly ,she couldn't have kids .. There is really no nickname either I just call her Linda :) I think these peppermills are perfect because they look like a wine bottle and she loves wine. I just can't figure out how to personalize it. If you have suggestions on which one to get based on your personalization advice ...that would be great too!! :)

That's a beautiful gift. My 1st thought was, I would go with 1st name only. But then I tried to picture myself passing a dinner guest a peppermill that said T. across it! No, that feels wierd. Maybe use what her grandkids call her. If it's something like Nona that would be nice. Does she have any nickname or is there a private joke nickname between the 2 of them? For instance, my friend calls me Marley. It's a throwback to my love affair with reggae music. A peppermill with Marley across it, now that sounds cool and it's a conversation starter if I have people over for dinner.
She's your friend, the gift is for her, SHE wants the peppermill. Put her first name on it. Even if she and her guy marry, you don't know if she'll change her name. Putting his last name on it is pushing things! If you want to get him something else, fine - depends on your relationship and whether you and he exchange gifts on a regular basis. I can't imagine he'd be offended that you got her something SHE wants with HER name on it! I have household and dinner things that my friends have given me, and my husband doesn't care one whit that it wasn't a gift to him!
Do you have a special nickname for her? I would use her nickname or just her first name only.
I'd just put her first name, that will still be quite endearing.
I love wooden peppermills.
I do Christmas shopping all year. A local store just put some of its BBQ items on clearance. I bought some for a SIL that loves to BBQ. BBQ stuff won't be available at Christmas time.
For the pepper mill, I'd put her first name on it. The last name may change, but the first name probably won't.
Good luck to you and yours.
If it were me, I'd get her something else you don't have to personalize and wait to see if a wedding takes place.
I saw Christmas and said "REALLY?"!!! :) Let me get through Halloween first!!! :)
If you have a special name you use for her - do that - if not - do her initials...when she gets married - you can do the salt and pepper grinders in their initials! :)
Just use her first name.
That's a great gift idea!
