Our 14 month old daughter is now ready to graduate out of her rear facing and into the next frontward facing car seat. Wondering what brands/models you recommend we investigate or avoid. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We have 2 Britax Marathons and LOVE them. For a slimmer profile and to have your child not kicking the front seat as much, you can also go with the Sunshine Kids Radian65 or Radian80. We have a Radian80 - we LOVE it and it's less expensive than the Britax...good up to 80 pounds in a 5-point harness, folds so you can travel with it easily, is comfortable (she was great for a 4.5 hour road trip), and is a little less expensive than the Britax. If you want function for a lower price, we also have 2 Cosco Scenera seats (in Kentucky at my mom's), which are highly rated for safety, but not great for long road trips, and cost $45 or so. The Britax is by far the easiest carseat to install.

I like the Britax Marathon. I actually have the Britax Roundabout, not realizing that its smaller than the marathon. The marathon seems to have a taller head-rest to (I'd assume) last for a longer stage than the roundabout. Its VERY easy to use and install. Remember when you DO get your new carseat, to have it inspected by local police or social services to be sure it's installed and your child is being buckled in correctly. :)

Definitely the Britax. It comes in many sizes, from the Diplomat for smaller more compact cars, to the Boulevard and Marathon for larger vehicles. These are the best seats on the market, worth the money.

If you can handle to price tag, Britax is the way to go. We have two of them and I could not be happier. The first one we bought 4+ years ago and when I put the cover in the wash, it still looks brand new. They really maintain their value.

And of course, most importantly, they are super safe, easy to install and so comfy.

I could not be more pleased with these seats. Hope that helps. :)

Britax Marathon! Safe, safe, safe, and comfy enough to fall asleep and be happy on long rides.
