LMP = Last Menstrual Period
She got a positive.
Why does she want to take another test?
Is she hoping for a different answer?
Her next stop is confirmation at her doctors office.
Hi Ladies,
So my sister "thinks" she is pregnant. The story behind the situation is she went to the doctor for her annual exam on 10/19 and they did a urine pregnancy test because of the way she was feeling...came back negative. This past Sunday she took 3 of the Clear Blue digital and all three came out reading "pregnant". So she thinks she is about 2-3 weeks along. Is it even possible?? She does not have an exact date for her lmp but it was late September she thinks.
Should she take another pg test but a different kind with the lines??
Any advice is appreciated....because I don't know what to tell her, and she has not contacted her Dr yet either.
To note: lmp is last menstral period, and the Dr's office she was going to is giving her the run around since they just gave her one less then 3 weeks ago and it came back negative.

If her last period was late September then fertilization occurred at or a few days before her doctor's visit. Of course it came back negative. No test can pick up a pregnancy that early.
There are no false positives on pregnancy tests. She IS pregnant.
I don't understand what is so confusing in the scenario you described. A doctor's Urine test is no more accurate than an EPT from Walmart. They test for the same thing with pretty much the same level of accuracy. And if she was only 2 weeks along at her doctor's appt, then no, it might not have shown positive.
Maybe if you explain what "Imp" is it would help.... ?
Oh... HAHAH... I thought the "L" was a capital "i".....
ETA: if her "lmp" was late September (she thinks) then between 10-14 days after that would be her expected most fertile days. So, the first or 2nd week of October would have been her "most likely" days for conception. And if she conceived then, it probably would NOT show up on a urine test on 10/19... heck-- it might have only just implanted. But Now in November, 2-3 weeks later, yes it is showing up.
Tell her congratulations!
I had a negative urine pregnancy test at my doctor's office, and the NEXT DAY had a positive home pregnancy test, and was pregnant! In those early days of pregnancy just days/hours can make a difference.
Yep she is pregnant. urin test would not come out positive that early and a home test can easily test positive at 3 weeks she may very well even be 4 weeks along if she concieved the week before her urine test.
Per your update: Most Dr's offices don't even see pregnant women until around 6-8 weeks anyways, so she doesn't need to go in for another test. She should go ahead and make an a appointment with an obgyn in a few weeks and not worry about the other Dr. In the meantime, she can get prenatal pills over the counter at any store and there are tons of anti nausea remedies via a simple google search. The seabands sold at cvs work well also. She can even go on babycenter.com and find out her estimated due date by typing in the estimated date of her first day of her last period so she can begin charting how far along she is. Once she gets her first ultrasound, they can verify the timeline, but a simple guess is good enough.
The test the Dr. gave her came back negative b/c it was just to early to test. But the positive ones now are what she should be going by.
I had the same thing happen - first test negative. Apparently I went in too soon. Went home and had a margarita. Went back 3 weeks later and the test was positive. Did blood test at Dr. both times. Had baby 9.5 mos. later
Your pregnancy actually begins on the first of your last period, so being 2-3 weeks pregnant is possible, per se, but what she's likely talking about is 2-3 weeks since conception which would make he 4-5 weeks pregnant. It's completely probable that she is pregnant, those tests sometimes have false negatives, bit false positive is almost unheard of. It may have been too early when she was at the doc for a UCG to come up positive, but not too early to feel symptoms. I had symptoms with my 2nd within days of conception but a UCG was negative. My husband and I argued about whether I was pregnant or not. He swore I was I thought he was crazy. I was. Anyway good luck to your sister and to you Auntie!
It makes sense. I had a somewhat similar experience. I tested positive on a home pregnancy test (a few times--Haha, I had to be sure) and then when I went into the doctor, it came up negative on his urine test, but positive on the blood test.
I hear the doctors' urine tests aren't very sensitive. Seems like they of all people would want to be the MOST accurate ;)
Oh, amd LMP means Last Menstrual Period
