I have a friend (not in texas) that has recently started her own cleaning company. She has 6 employees. She's having alot of problems w/certain employees cheating on their hrs. She's getting frustrated because she has no way of knowing exactly when they start in a house and when they finish. Even if they call in, they cud be anywhere. I know there r mother's on here that have their own businesses so what can she do to avoid this type of problem? Any suggestions wud be helpful. Thank u.

What can I do next?

Wow, C.!! That's a GREAT question! I have a friend who owns a babysitting service, but obviously, the sitters/ nannies CAN'T cheat on their hours!

Are the clients ever at home when the cleaners arrive? If they are, then I would ask the CLIENT to call the office (or set up a special # just for this purpose, to leave a message) when the cleaners arrive and leave the client's home.

I don't know if there is any way of "electronically" keeping track of their time, either. Your friend might want to call the Secretary of State for Texas, and ask how she can keep better track of her employees' time.

Wish I had a better answer for you!! I hope this helps some...

My friend use to work for a cleaning service in Michigan and she had to call from the home when she arrived and call from the home when she was finished. She got paid for those hours of work. Your friend knows how long it takes to clean a one bedroom or a seven bedroom so she knows if they are cheating her. If they are then they may be cheating the client or even worse, it would be time to let them go and find honest employees. Best of luck!

Have them call from the home and be sure she has a caller ID so she can verify it is from the home phone number.

This may be a crazy idea, but could she come up with a way to pay per job, not per hour? Maybe some kind of system based on the sqaure feet of the home, what is to be cleaned etc. and pay more for extra services that dont come with a typical clean. She must be so frustrated!1 Best of luck to her in her new adventure! ~A.~
