I do not have a child like yours but as a cranial sacral therapist I know that ADD has been treated successfully. You can search through google the upledger institute and find out more about this modality. There are also various articles and you can search for a therapist who specializes in children around your area.
I hope this helps,
Montse

Hi C.,

I have been pursuing options for my daughter, 13, since she was in the third grade. We have an IEP in place for her but I constantly find suggestions that ADD is a problem. My daughter has been in therapy since third grade because along with her ADD (which has not been confirmed because testing continues to show inconclusive) she also has behavioral problems. After years of bringing my concerns forward, just about 1 year ago they retested her and still found results to be inconclusive. In the time that has passed, many other problems have developed and she is being medicinally treated for depression and anxiety disorders, which they believe stem from her lack of keeping up in school. The years of being the class joke may have caught up to her as she got older and understood how she was being used as a joke. At this time, they are now FINALLY looking at other diagnosis because a year on Prozak hasn't helped enough. My answer to your concern is, no, I have not had much luck finding excellent care. But, I have learned a lot along the way. You are Mom, and you know if something isn't right. Follow your gut and start by speaking with your Pediatrician and/or the school to see if maybe they can start some testing. But my biggest mistake in all was that I started early, but I always let them disregard my concerns. Put your foot down and don't stop until you get answers that satisfy you. If I pushed harder in the beginning, maybe we could have resolved her before she got so far behind in school and stop caring, bringing on the depression. Good care in our area has been hard to find, but don't let that put you off from doing what is best for your daughter. Good luck in your efforts.

I just posted on a related topic, my 12 year old son has been diagnosed ADHD since age 6, but we are now looking at possible additional diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum...as he was already in the ADHD box, we have been addressing his issues on that level over the years since then, but come to find out, most spectrum kids present with add/adhd first, and some of the more emotional/social issues become more obvious as they enter pre-teen years...we have a great counselor and are on the road to getting him what he needs, he is very bright in many ways, but the social/emotional aspect is very behind age appropriate levels. We are just south of Boston, not sure where you are but if you are anywhere near the Norwood/Walpole area, I can refer you to a great counseling center. Best of luck!

i have that with my boy. try the talented and gifted programs. put her with smart kids like her. If you have to leave a school district to find one, make your district pay for it. that's the law
