Actually I'm Seeking "ME" care...where Do I Find Help?

Dear Mamasource Ladies...I've read enough of your responses to feel comfortable asking for advice. I have always been a physically healthy, productive, successful woman. However, a year and a half ago I was hit by car while on my bike, my body was thrown over 35 feet and my health has never been the same. Even though I 'walked' away from the accident, I sustained many internal injures, contusions, damage to ligaments/muscles, etc. I have been to internists, neurologists, PMR doctors, podiatrists, orthopaedic docs, neuro-opthamologist, over a year of PT. I started massage/acupuncture/auridology/herbal supplements a few months ago. This has helped tremendously with the 'newer' injuries, but there were pre-existing conditions which it has not affected much. The short of it: my health and quality of life has been adversely affected. I do not have family on my side and I care for my my two youngest children and my in-laws alone. My husband works typically 80-100 hours a week when he's in town and travels about 30% of the time. I'm just falling further and further behind at home and it's making me more and more depressed. Due to the medical costs associated with the accident, we can't afford to keep hiring more help. We already have lawn/pool maintenance. We left the church we had been attending the last few years partly due to their lack of response and care in our time of need. I just don't know where to turn sometimes. I'm not healed, but what type of doctor do I see next, if any? My children help a lot with dishes, laundry, but it's not enough. I feel like I'm losing all my life's energy. I see a therapist and take an anti-depressant. I've thought of hiring a college student, but my house has become so unorganized I don't know how they could help with the mess. I'm just out of sorts and feel how sad for my children to see me so sad and dysfunctional right now.

What can I do next?

I can't imagine what you are going through. Motherhood is hard enough on our best days, let alone when your health and well being are compromised. I'd like to offer you a day in my salon. Come in for a complimentary manicure/pedicure. And if you'd like, one of our fabulous stylists will give you a cut and/or color. It may be of little help in the long run, but every mom needs some TLC (and sassy pink toes!). Hopefully you can find a sitter for your kids so you can come in, relax and let us take care of you. Visit my website: mynailgoddess.com for my location, hours, and phone number. Please call!

Hi Jennifer,

I don't really ever respond to these or post. I've been married for about 1 1/2 years and we have been trying to have children with no luck so far. I can't even imagine how hard this is for you. I would like to help you out any anyway possible. I'm sure that I could get my sister and a few friends to come and maybe help at least oragnize your house and maybe lift your spirits. Life is to short to have to worry about those things and we are all here to help lighten each others burdens. Please contact me and let us help! Best of luck to you!

I'm sure you are going to get a lot of leads thru this, but I really think you need to go to this man named Dr. Shawn Warwick ###-###-####). My mother has had ongoing health problems all of her life, and he has helped the most. We even moved out here from antother state b/c of him. I personally had chronic fatigue issues, and he helped those tremendously. He is technically a chiropractor, but he does a lot more modalities than that. I went to naturopathic school, and wasn't overly impressed by their skills (I'm sure there are a few standouts), and now work in the field of alternative med, so I have been educated in a lot of modialities. This guy surpasses them all. Good luck. There are lots of good therapies out there and it's just a matter of finding the one that fits for you. It can take years to do so.

Hi Jennifer

My wife told me to read your info and respond. I am sorry for what you have been through, however, I am a chiropractor and I have helped tens of thousands of patients for the last almost 15 yrs. I have been voted the best for the last 10 or 11 years. I will be happy to give you a consult one on one at our house in Gilbert and see what I can help you with to help you become more mobile and functional... Please email me at your convenience and let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

I agree with the DC, chiropractic adjustments did wonders for me. I would also suggest accupuncture treatments.

If you've been to every kind of specialist and taken every supplement or medication there is, its time to look at alternative medicine. :)

Your story breaks my heart. It is hard to do all you are doing when you don't feel well. I'm not sure I can help, but my church has a program called Visiting Teaching where women visit and help each other at least once a month (free). They also have a women's group called Relief Society that will send someone to help you when you need more (free). I'm not sure where you live, but you can go to lds.org and look up the meetinghouse locator, put in your address, and call the Bishop's phone number to see what you can do. Good luck!

Hi Jennifer,

Try playing the thankful game and writing down 1 to 5 things each day for which you are thankful. It helped me at one time (and still does). I went through a long depression and some medical stuff where I had to reach up to touch the bottom. When you are having a tough time, it's a challenge not to focus on the problems, but honestly, the more you think and talk about them, the worse they can become and create a downward spiral. Do your best to focus on the good, even though it's not easy to do.

I'll also put your first name on our prayer list. We have about 30 individuals who pray regularly for those on the list and have had some amazing results. Sorry the people in your church let you down. That's not the way it should be.

Hi Jennifer. I can't refer you to a doctor, but I can help you to start really learning to take care for yourself. I offer weekly whole body exercise classes where you learn to create ease in your body and mind, by moving through your muscles, joints and bones. You also learn to do deep internal stretches to unwind "challenge" areas. Then you begin to build strength, stamina and endurance from a place of ease. Classes are really fun, working on your own, with a partner and with the group. You go at your own pace and can join at any time. Check out my website www.consciousworkouts.com. Movement in your body helps you move in your life. Would love to hear from you if it looks appealing.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm almost finished reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. I'll never be finished reading this though, as I will read it over and over and over again. It is fabulous and teaches about the Universe, the Law of Attraction and about getting to really know ourselves in order to find true happiness. Also, watch The Secret. You can rent it or watch it online for $5 at www.thesecret.tv
It just sounds like you are stuck right now, but I know that you can easily break free of the negative energy you are experiencing right now, and enter into a new world of happiness. Be open to all this, as it sounds like you're at your wits end, physically and emotionally. It's not about New Age and new beliefs. It's an old age way of life that is resurfacing to the general public. Also, the movie "You Can Heal Your Life" is supposed to be great. I want to see it. Just watch it, give it a try. I think it will help! =) Best Wishes!

PS: If you want a new form of treatment, go see Roberto Paredes in Tempe. He is working on my back right now and I have tried anything and everything over the years to help my back feel better and Rolfing is really helping me! You can find him online at http://www.advancedtherapeuticbodyworks.com/
You will love him and his healing touch!

What type of "doctor" to see next? You need fellow believers. Where do you live? If you are near our church, we have a wonderful Oasis (offering all kinds of assistance and guidance depending on your needs), women and children's groups, and a loving ministry of inreach and outreach. You sound like a wonderful person to get to know. I'd love to have you join me in the bible study we are currently doing. I am also in a "valley" right now and am finding so much peace in this study!

Jennifer, I am so sad to read of your challenges. I am a pediatric nurse practitioner who believes strongly in the body being able to heal itself with the help of others who can improve flow in your system. I personally see and send many of my patients to a DO who only practices oseopathic and homeopathic medicine. He is a little pricey because he doesn't bill insurance, but you can submit his claims to your insurance for reimbursement and I have had no problem being reimbursed, this of course assumes that you are not on an HMO. A patient of mine has given me the name of another therapist they have had a lot of success with and his information is here:

CREAT I V E T H E R A P E U T I C S
10752 N. 89TH PLACE • SUITE 209 • SCOTTSDALE • AZ • 85260
###-###-#### • ____@____.com

The DO is Stephen Davidson, DO He is at 1303 W. Bethany Home Phoenix, 85013 and website is healthaboounds.com phone ###-###-####.

I hope you are able to explore this therapy ans see results. My prayers and good wishes are with you. Also know that reflexology is very healing.

Best wishes, K.

I am so very sorry to hear about all you've been through. Wow, no wonder you're depressed! I can somewhat relate to the "doctor after doctor" situation as my sister has been to NUMEROUS doctors now for many years seeking help. I have pretty much given up on your typical medical doctor and have found much more help from naturopathic medicine. I have a phenomenal nurse practioner who believes in the holistic approach and is a WEALTH of knowledge. I also have a very caring, understanding naturopathic physician who will go the extra mile to find the right "treatment" for you.
I am so sorry that your church was not there for you - sometimes we as believers must be an embarassment to our Lord and Saviour. Have you ever heard of Bible Study Fellowship? It is a wonderful group of women from all different backgrounds and denominations who meet once a week (beginning in Sept) to study the Bible. These are very loving, caring, accepting women who just want to learn more about God and His Word. I think that it would be a real encouragement to you. If you'd be interested in attending, let me know.
My nurse practitioner's name is Dana Rosdahl and her number is: ###-###-#### My naturopath is Dr. Ortiz and his number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps and I will be praying for you.

I am sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I honestly think that doctors can sometimes make your problems worse, and while i'm not on any medication for any medical problems, I know a lot of people that have been on medication for certain problems, and it seems to just "mask" the problem with harsh drugs instead of therapy & herbal remedies. I use all natural products and nutritional vitamins to help keep me feeling energized and full of life. I have 3 kids, a 2 year old son, and twins who are 15 months old, so to say the least, there have been times where I felt a huge lack of energy myself, and although my husband was around to help, I still felt tired! Since finding this incredible wellness company, I have had a lot more energy, I am happier, and my whole family is healthier! (Not to mention, we save money!) If you are interested in hearing more about these products, please email me at ____@____.com can also check out the products at www.saferforyourhome.com I personally, will never shop anywhere else for my daily health needs, cleaning needs, etc.! I hope you find hope in what I have to offer.

Sorry to hear all you've been going through. SOunds like you have some great advise. Also sounds like you needed to sue whoever hit you. I hope you are doing this. You need to get your meidcal bills covered, at least. I don't have any local contacts, but I am sure if you asked everyone, you would get some leads. Good luck to you!
