I am in your same position, still trying to get plugged in here in Cumming. Like some of your other responses I have found that church is a great place to start. First Redeemer and Creekside have programs for kids (even if you don't go to church there). Here are some websites that you may find helpful:

Hi there, J.: I think a good start would be to get into a good church. One that is excellent in the Cumming area is First Redeemer (Dr. Lee is the pastor)- it is right there nearby 141 and Ga. 400 - near the new mall type area there. This is an excellent way to meet new couples in your situation. Be sure that you go to Sunday School - they have a nursery there for your children. Good luck and God bless. M.
J.,
My children are slightly older than your 3 year old (8 and 11 y/o) but they really enjoy going to a place called catch air here in Cumming. It is right off Hwy 9 and has huge blow up slides, work out equipment appropriate for age group, an area with huge lego building blocks (I mean huge) and even an area for ones who cannot walk yet. It is relatively cheap and you can stay as long as you like. They must wear socks inside the building. You can also bring in outside snacks, picnic lunches, etc. They have plenty of tables for the moms and dads to sit and computer hook ups too.
There is also a wonderful park at exit 17, called Central Park. It has a very nice walking/biking trail, and huge playground, many baseball fields, etc. and picnic tables.
We also have a very nice YMCA off exit 13 near the polo fields, that offer many activities for children, including the nice indoor swimming pools.
If I should think of anything else, I will submit another response for you.

J.,
I am copying information from a past preacher of ours, they moved to the Cumming area this past June and it sounds like the church he is now involved in has a lot of opportunities for all ages...
Good luck, hopefully it is close enough by that it will be convenient for you. He and his wife have two small boys - adorable! His name is Rev. Jason Danuser, I believe they live more north Forsythe County, but serve here:
(Our church is Creekside UMC--just off 400 on Peachtree Parkway in South Forsyth Co. Please invite your friend to check out our website (creekside.net) and to come and worship with us. Kids are a HUGE priority for us here, so she'd fit right in, I'm sure.)
Remember you are never alone - The Lord is always near. May God Bless you and keep you in this new area.

Welcome to Georgia J.. One of the more popular places for kids is Central Park playground, they have an area for the smaller children.
Have you sought out the local MOMS club? I am not sure if you are a stay at home mom, but MOMS clubs are generally for stay at home mothers looking to interact with other mothers and their children. There are few clubs in the area. I am an attorney and have spoken at one a few times. One of the members just contacted me this week and I will ask her for some additional information on them if you are interested. Email me if you are. The women in this club could certainly tell you what is going on the area, free or cheaply, and they would be a good outlet for you.
