I will never argue about the fact our colons are filled with junk that should probably not be there.
I found over the years of trying a variety of ways to lose weight the best way is to balance your diet. Eat 6 times a day and do get some type of exercise even if it is nothing more than walking a mile a day or riding a bike (even a stationary one) for a mile a day.
The best weight loss diet I have ever seen is the diabetic weight loss diet my mother was on 33 years ago. The second best diet I have seen is the Air Force diet, which is remarkably similiar to the original diabetic weight loss diet and the third one is the Eating For Life diet.
It is true the weight comes off slower, but if you stick to it long enough to get down to your desired weight and then go to the balance diet you will find two things to be true; the weight will stay off longer and you have trained yourself to eat correctly so your body can actually burn off the fats, etc., the way it was designed to work.
You get one or two days a week off of the diet with Eating For Life to "pig-out" and you will find as time goes on you will eat less junk because it just doesn't taste right.
I love chocolate, chips, and pecan pie! In the last year I have found a small piece of chocolate if I simply think I will die if I don't have it satisfys the yearning and would rather have semi-sweet chocolate because it isn't as sweet. You can make fudge with bakers chocolate, splenda, and margine in the microwave. You can make stain glass candy with corn syrup, splenda, and any flavoring you want to add to satisfy those urges.
Cookies, cakes, etc., can be made without sugar if you desire to munch on them as well. I add raisins, nuts, and flavorings to them too.
A doctor once told me if I was really craving something sweet to eat a dill pickle. I thought he was crazy. It works. I now keep a jar of baby dills in the refrigerator for those occasions. By the way, you can eat a jar of dill pickles if you want, all the raw cauliflower, broccoli, celery, lettuce, and radishes you can handle and it has no effect on calorie intake per the original diabetic and Air Force diets.
I tried what you are preparing to do. I lost some weight, but once I stopped taking all the pills etc., the weight came right back on.
Good luck, I'm praying for you.
