www.annualcreditreport.com. Each of the three agencies has to supply one free credit report per year. I get one report every 4 months from a different company. The free copy does not have a credit score; they will be happy to provide you with one for about $5.

This is the site the Fed setup years ago so we can get one report per year. The best way to do it is get one report from one credit agency every 3 or 4 months so you can check it. If you think there is a problem, then I would get all reports and dispute anything according to the directions they give. Once you choose which agency to get the report from (the report could be different based on the agency) you get a link to go to their site. If you dispute anything, they must provide a report after the dispute is resolved.

You can request your yearly free copy by calling each of the 3 credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian & Transunion). You can find the phone numbers on the websites of each respective agency.

This site is from the govt and is really, officially free. The credit bureau sites are often confusing because they try to get you to sign up for a yearly "protection" service as a part of the report request. We just got all our credit reports since we're buying a new house and it was quick and painless! Just be sure to do it from a computer that has a printer hooked up because you can't save the credit reports, you have to immediately print them once they're displayed.

Besides that you can apply for a loan that you know you will be turned down. When they turn you down they are required to give you a copy of what the credit reporting agencies gave them. That way you get all three for free.

Good luck to you and yours.

Just one thing to add - you can get a free credit report as mentioned below, but I do not know of anyway to obtain a free credit score. You'll really don't need your score, based on the information in your report you can get a good idea of where your score is.
