You don't. You wait a week and then test again. If it was positive, it will still be positive in a week. If it's negative, it was always negative and unless you were planning to go out and get drunk for the holiday, you haven't lost anything by waiting long enough to get a conclusive result.

see the camera eye on your computer? get really, really close to it. peer into it. make sure it's looking back. wink at it once or twice to make sure you're sympatico.
now get your uterus up there. i know. it's awkward. persevere. do whatever you have to. maybe get your husband to help hold you up there while the camera eye squeezes itself shut and tries to block it out. stick with it. at some point it will give up and shine on in there. push a button your keyboard.
hack into the MP software and implant the picture of your uterus. hit shift/command/option/F12 (make sure you do them all at the same time!) and that should do it.
the picture will be here and we can all comment with our Awesome Doctorly Advice.
you're welcome.

WTH are you talking about?

Go to the Dr. We don't know if you are pregnant or not, if you had unprotected sex you could be pregnant. Whew....

Do you really think we ( strangers on a public forum) can properly diagnose you? I don't care to see any pics of your uterus, spare us please.

8dpo?
8 days past ovulation?
Been TV for 4 months now?
Huh?

I'm sorry but I have no clue at all what you're asking.
If you can clarify at all it would be a big help.

Additioanl:
Thanks Tadpole - that helps.

On average it takes a couple 12 months of Trying To Conceive in order to achieve a pregnancy.
Some people get lucky right away without hardly trying while others keep trying longer than a year - that's how averages work.
Wait a few weeks and try the home pregnancy test again first thing in the morning.
In the mean time take your vitamins, stay active and try to have fun.
Worrying too much over it makes things stressful and that can complicate things.

A faint positive is still a positive. Read the package insert.

Go get a blood test.

And yet.... I'm intrigued to see if you will edit your profile and upload a picture of the "faint positive" as your profile pic.

That's not how you use Mamapedia, M.. You need a clinic, a doctor, or a repeat pregnancy test in a week. Or call the manufacturer of your pregnancy test to ask them what a faint result means. They will probably tell you to buy 5 more of their products, or to go to a doctor though. Either way, you won't have an answer until you get off the computer and talk to an expert.

You know, it really helps if you spell things out and not use text spelling on here, TV to me is television, and I have no idea what 8dpo means. If you really want help, you need to reword your post and use real words like an adult.

Well, thanks to Tadpole, we know what on earth you were telling us. Would it have been so hard to actually have written that out? Really now, 8dpo and TV? Come on...

Do you just not have a doctor, or do you just not want to pay the money to go to one? Do you have a Planned Parenthood anywhere close by? They could help you.

We are not doctors. We are a group of moms. No matter what picture you end up posting, we still couldn't give you proper advise.

If you really really want to know right this minute call your local health department and ask them if they do pregnancy testing. Ours does. If you're low income it's free so women will go find out if they're pregnant sooner and take better care of themselves. If you have income or insurance you can find out if they take your insurance and go. They have professional tests.

The earliest I ever got a positive was 10DPO.
If you want tests to compare it to, look at www.peeonastick.com
You can find some real life examples.

Otherwise, test again in a day or two.
