Why not spell it the correct way, Madeline. All these homemade spellings make the parents look uneducated. Madeline is a pretty name and I agree, Belle is the best middle name. Jolie makes everyone think of Angelina and Jade is harsh.
We finally came up with a 1st name for DD #2! Madalynne! She will probably be Maddie most of the time, but we're also thinking of NNs of Lynn, Dee, or even Dylan! So far our middle name ideas are:
Madalynne Belle
Madalynne Jolie
Madalynne Jade
DH likes Maddie Jolie better, but I think Maddie Belle sounds best! Jade is almost out of the running, but I thought I'd include it as well...open for any other suggestions too! Big sister is Lilliana Bree, and last name is Curry. I think daddy might like the rhymey middle-last name thing, he's the one who made the final decision on Bree... Oh, & we're not set on the spelling, but it will be along these lines, Madalynne/Madalynn/Madelynne/Madelynn...Which spelling looks best? (none ending in line!) I think Madalynne looks prettiest! Thanks in advance for all your help!!

I'm a teacher and so many of my students' parents wanted to be inventive with their names. I have crazy spellings, crazy pronunciations, and names that are altogether made up. My one piece of advice is that this is her name and she will have to live with it for the rest of her life, not you. This is the name that will go on college and job applications and will be spoken at interviews and interpreted on resumes. Make it easy on her.
I have to agree on the spellings.... they all seem a little silly. Madeline is a pretty name :)
What about Madeline Rose?
By spelling your daughter's name the way you're planning (any of them) you are dooming her to have to spell her name to every teacher, friend, friend's parent, hiring manager, etc. Besides, there are all sorts of studies out there showing that mostly only parents with low levels of education choose made up spellings. Stick with the real name: Madeline. You'll look smarter and your daughter will thank you.
That said, I like Belle or Jade for the middle name. Jolie is too much like Angeline Jolie.
PLEASE think about your daughter and use the traditional spelling of her name, Madeline. Kids who are named Marry Jain, or Crystopher Jawn are just really annoyed to have to constantly tell people FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES how to correctly spell their name. I know it looks pretty (it does!) but your baby has no choice here, and I promise, she will not be happy with it later.
And I like Belle best of all, out of your three choices for middle name :)
Grace, Faith, Elizabeth...BTW I like Madeline
Sorry LBC, I'm traditional on names too. Your spelling will be unique and it's your choice, but I agree with some moms below, where it will be difficult for your daughter later and it seems uneducated, not to mention that people will get it wrong verbally as they will not associate the spelling right away. Madeline is a beautiful name. If you are going to call her Maddie, why bother going with the unique spelling?
Belle goes best out of your middle name choices. How about:
Madeline Cecile
Madeline Celeste
Madeline Giselle
Madeline Devin
Madeline Leah
Madeline Alexis
You can also go with Madison Lynne. You'd still have a Maddie.
Good luck!
My best friend has a Madeline Paige. We call her Maddie Paige.
No matter what you do, I think a ONE-syllable middle name sounds best with a multi-syllable first name. My suggestion was going to be Madalynne Grace.
Belle gives the name the best flow.
My daughter is Madeline Dearie. But we call her "Linney" for short. There are sooo many Maddies out there.
Great choice! If I had another daughter, I would name her Madeline Grace.
I think the name is most commonly spelled Madeline (which you don't care for) or Madelyn. Anything else would require her to constantly have to spell her name for people.
I love the name Madelyn. Sorry, I don't care for the middle names that you chose. I don't feel that they flow nicely with Madelyn.
I like:
Madelyn Grace
Madelyn Rose
I agree with the rest on the traditional spelling of Madeline but with your choices I would go with Madelynn.
For the middle name, all are pretty. What I did with middle names that we had differing opinions on - I would not talk about it at all until after I gave birth. Then, while holding our newborn (me all sweaty and bloody) I would say "Can we go with ______(my choice) for the middle name?"
Worked everytime!
Sooooo, if you really want Belle....
I think the name is beautiful! Don't listen to the others my daughters name is made up too:) her name is Harlee Quinn. So even though I have 2 bachelor degrees I must be uneducated. Anyways I think Belle is the best choice. Congrats on your baby!
I like traditional spellings personally so I'd stick with Madeline. And I think out of the three jade has the best flow with it personally! I would also like grace, Jane, Lane, Marie, Olivia, Paige, Quinn, Rae..
Grace is a nice middle name. and with that many syllables in the first name you need only 1 in the middle.
I would say either Rose, Grace, Jane, or Paige. With a 3-syllable name like Madelyn, a 1-syllable middle name just seems to flow better and be less of a mouthful.
I would spell it with an e, rather than a second a (Madelyn, NOT Madalyn) since that is how it is supposed to be spelled and what most people will expect. As for how to end it, think about your child going to school and having to learn to spell and write it themselves. Think about them being older and adults and always having to spell their name for everyone because it's a non-traditional spelling. Simpler is better, IMHO. I guess it just depends on how you want it pronounced, with a short i sound or a long i sound. Madelyn or Madelynn would give you the short i sound. If you want the long i sound, it's Madeline.
I think you are going to get the most misspellings if you go with Madalynne. I would do either Madalynn or Madelynn and not have the extra E at the end.
For middle names, I think a one syllable name is best with such a long first name. I like Jade the best of the ones you listed. I also thought of Grace, Reese, Kate, and Claire.
Im guessing Jolie is a family name?
M Jolie is my favorite, MJ or 'Delyn for short
M______ is spelled differently all over Europe, Middle East, and N.Asia. It's one of the few names you can spell however you want and have historical context for, just look for ghe region.
Personally, I don't like the double A (Mada), and prefer the Madely____, or Marilyn variant of Madily...but in saying so, I've just ticked off about half of Eastern Europe that uses the Mada or Magda preface.
ANY single syllable middle name will sound beautiful, so will most 5 syllable names. It's the ration of 3-1 or 3-5 that will make music. Jolie is on of the few 2 syllable names that works!
I am a pretty traditional person but I have to say that I like Madalynne. I think Belle flows best with the first and last name. I also like:
Madalynne Nicole Curry (Maddie Nicole)
Madalynne Noel Curry (Maddie Noel)
Madalynne Grace Curry (Maddie Grace)
Madalynne Brielle(BRE-ELLE) Curry (Maddie Brielle)
my neice is Madelyn Rose. Rose was her great grandma.
Madalynne Grace
Madalynne Paige
Madalynne Elizabeth
I'm a little late to the party and I haven't read all the responses... But I like Madelynn Mae. Keep the middle name short so it rolls off easier. The best advice I got from my good friend is to yell the name to be sure it sounds good when you're hollering it, haha!
Good luck with the name and congrats on the new baby!
I like Madeline Belle. (I prefer traditional spellings. It makes it easier on everyone in the long run.)
Madeleine Isabel would be lovely, and then you could get the nickname Maddy Belle that way. Just remember that anything cutesy poo would have to follow her for her entire life. You're not naming a baby... you have to imagine naming an adult. Especially since for most of her life, she'll be an adult and not a baby or small child.
Just something to consider.
I think it should be spelled Madalynn. The "e" at the end throws me off. Is it Mada-Lynn Or Mada-Line?? IF Mada-Lynn, then Madalynn Belle is cute, also what about Madalynn Drew, Madalynn Grace, ? I can't think of anymore, lol...
I like Marie, Rose, Ruth, Joy, Janae, Jolie, Nicole
I think the Madeline is prettiest but whatever spelling you pick be sure it's easy to spell wherever she goes. Why not Maddie Lynn?
My vote is :
Madalynn and for middle name, Belle. But if you want more suggestions,
Madalynn: Justine, Riley, Sage,Gretta, Marie, Jayla, Portia
Best wishes with your decision.
