Hello! I Had a few toddler questions that I would welcome a response from anyone :)

First, does anyone know a hair dresser that is real good with toddlers? I usually cut my sons hair because it grows so fast but we are getting Our first family picture taken professionally (I am really excited) and I know I will screw up his hair. We Live on the South East side of town.

Second, Does anyone know of a good conditioner for very fine hair? I usually put my conditioner on my son (pantene Pro V) because without it his hair get really fuzzy and I can't seem to find any baby Brand conditioner.

Third, What is the average age that I can trust my son to go down a slide at the playground without me? I usually just put him on my lap and go down with him, I was just wondering how long I have on average until I can just watch him play :)

Fourth, Does anyone have any tooth brushing techniques they can share. My son just wants to suck on the brush and eat all the baby tooth paste

Fifth, What is a good age to take a toddler to the dentist and does anyone know a dentist who is awesome with babies?

Ok those are my questions for today :) Thank you for taking the time to read them and any response will be highly appreciated :)

What can I do next?

I'm not trying to be mean, this is ment for sarcasam.
Did'nt you say your child is a boy? My Daughter was going down slides by herself at 1 year old head first on her belly. I have no idea why your son is sitting on your lap when he is fully capeable to sit up by himself. Usually the lap sliding is for infants. I mean mine is a Mama's boy too but come on already. BOY, is the key word here. None of us want to see our children hurt but if we shield them from getting hurt from the begining we are only making it harder for them to except it when they get hurt later on.

Toothbrush thing. Guess what the babybooks say about that. buy the cheap $store multipacks and let them chew away all the time and they'll learn to brush by themselves. Don't let him have toothpaste unless you are supervising and treat it as a medication, HIDE IT.

Dentist. I know the baby's teeth are important so thats why it's always a good idea to do that, But make sure it's just a check up. no major work should be done on a baby. they have to sadate them to tdo it you know. Just make sure you don't follow up. they try'd scareing me with my daughter's teeth but she is fine.

Hi. I have a 21 month old as well and I took him about a month ago to Cool Cuts for Kids. It is a kids salon on Eastern and silverado ranch, by Target. They did a great job, and they did it fast. It only took about 5 minutes. Hope this helps

I have been using A Children's Dentist (Drs Saxe -they are brothers)since my children are 18 months and 3 yo. My children are now 14 and 16. They have an office at Rainbow and I-215, or Boca Park in Summerlin.

Hi K.:

Hopefully some of this helps. We take our kids to Cool Cuts 4 Kids. I'm not sure if they have a salon in your neighborhood (the one we go to is on Sahara, just west of Buffalo) It's a great place for kids. They have special chairs for the little ones to sit in, and the kids can either play a video game or watch a movie while they get their hair cut. It helps to keep them still.
Second, I also use Pantene conditioner on my kids. I've found that most of the kid ones don't keep their hair as nice as mine does. The salon you pick should have some good suggestions for you if you really want to find a kid one though.
As for the slide, you might want to try a small one first that you can put him on while standing right there. That way you can be next to him and there to "catch" him when he goes down. He'll probably let you know if he's too scared to go by himself, and with the little slides, he can see that you're right there with him.
With the teeth brushing, I always brush my kids' teeth for them first. Then I hand them the toothbrush and ask them to do it to make sure mommy did a good job. That way, I know their teeth are getting clean, but I don't give them the impression that they didn't do it right.
And lastly, for the dentist. Our dentist said that the kids should come in by age 5. (unless there's a problem before that) I thought that was odd, but he said that it's so hard to get the little ones to sit still for the exam and things like x-rays. We just go to a family dentist (Rainbow dental) but I know there are a lot of offices just for children. try checking into that kudzu.com. people rate different businesses in town on the site, so I'm sure there's got to be something on there if you don't get enough good ideas here.
Again, I hope some of this helps. Good luck and take care.
