9 Month-old Son Eats like a Teenager

My son, Jameson, is almost in his 10th Month.
He's a healthy, happy, outgoing baby.
He's not chubby, but kind of on the regular/ lean side as far as size goes.
He's in the 95% of his age group, so I thought I'd expect this a little later down the line.
His school tells me that I need to supply him with a bigger lunch because he's still hungry after 8oz of stage 2/3 foods.
The other night he was still hungry after I fed him 12 oz and I stopped at 16oz because I worried that he'd get sick from eating too much.
Is this normal?
Is he going through another growth spurt?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

He still eats like a teenager, I've just adjusted and so has the school.
We are feeding him half soft-foods and half big-kid foods supplied by the school.
At home I've been giving him whatever we're eating since that seems to peak his interest more than Gerber's finger-foods.
Sweet grapes (they're dark purple and almost an inch long) are amongst his favorite.

Hi
I have two boys that never stopped eating at that age. You need to start feeding him table food. Give him cherios, cheese, coldcuts, crackers, yogurt in addition to the babyfood. Or see if he is ready for #3 baby food or those gerber meals that have little veggies in them.

Good luck!

Feed that growing boy!!! Don't worry about fat or this or that!!! Try not to listen to much to what people say if it is negative...listen to your son...he knows what is best for him. If he's hungry he'll ask for food and if he is full he'll stop eating. He is probably having a growth spurt and he is also most likely ready for solid finger foods. My son was born 10/27/07 and is eating EVERYTHING. I give him the Gerber Organic vegetables and fruits, but I also cook barley, turkey and zucchini, or beans and rice then put it in the Cuisinart.
Good Luck

Hi G.~

Yeah if he wants it give it to him...my son is 11 months old and some days I swear he eats more than I do. I am constantly joking that I will have to get a job just to support his food habit. LOL! I am by no means a expert in this area but I am jut a mom going threw it too! My son has been eating strictly table food for several months now but this is by his choice. He had the interest in table foods very young. And so far he eats almost everything (and yet he only has 2 teeth) he loves anything he can feed himself…cheerios (that he now dunks in milk) cubed anything (get your self a good sharp pearing knife to cut things up super small and a toothbrush holder to put it in like the kind for traveling and carry it in the diaper bag, so when your out and about you can share your food with him) chicken, steak, cheeses, cold cuts (low sodium) I used to get the deli meat shaved so it was like pre-chewed, & breads. He loves yogurt and mots makes these healthy harvest applesauce’s in all types of flavors and there is no sugar added (much cheaper than baby applesauce). He also likes frozen anything (applesauce, yogurt, fruits, veggies...etc) for the teething. I am not too sure why you are "not supposed" to give babies berries I think primarily because of allergies but yo baby yogurt comes in a pear and raspberry flavor that my son loves so I started with cutting raspberries in 1/2 and again they kind of fall apart in his mouth and now he eats them whole...I started with a hand full of whatever we were eating for lunch/dinner and slowly worked his way up, now he eats a whole slice of pizza with veggies on it for dinner and will drink 4-6 oz of formula an hour later and sleep threw the night.

I think if you start introducing table food a bit each meal you'll see that they are really able to eat quite a bit...more than I ever thought he was going to at this age. And I have to say he is also sleeping so much better. I hope this helps...best of luck! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

My son would not eat baby food. I start him on regular food. I cut up small pieces of everything. Pasta, fruits, veggies, meats, and so on. Maybe he needs big people food to fill him up.
