8 Year Old Girl Birthday Party Games

I'm having my daughter's 8 yr birthday party at our house this week and want a couple of games for them to play. There will be close to 20 girls. We are already painting pumpkins and making their own carmel apples, so I don't need anything too time consuming. Just a couple of quick, easy games for them. I want the games to be something for them to do all at the same time instead of something where they each do whatever "it" is while the others are waiting in line. With 20 girls, I want to keep them occupied! I also don't want to spend a bunch of money on supplies for the games! I appreciate any suggestions-thanks!

What can I do next?

I just asked my 13 year old who spends the summer at camp working with younger girls...
Duck duck goose
Toilet Paper Mummies - divide the girls into a few groups, give each team a few rolls of toilet paper, each team chooses a girl to be a mummy, and the other girls on the team, wrap her up, first team done wins.

The makeover stations are always a HUGE hit at that age - fingers toes and glitter are what it's all about. You could have barettes and bows for their hair too.
We also have done trivia - so you can have a bunch of questions prepared ahead of time with small prizes (candy, rings, stickers etc) and then have someone in charge of asking the questions "where country is Justin Beiber from?" "what was Miley's original name?" etc. The girl who gets it right gets a prize, but you can do it all afternoon in bits and pieces.

You could also have a 'find the info' hunt. They have to find out info about EACH OTHER - ie find 2 girls who were born NOT in our city / find one girl who went to Kindergarten in another state etc. The first girl to get her card filled wins a prize.

One year I snapped a pic of all the girls and then printed out 4x6 prints on the computer. They each had a frame and they docorated it with supplies at the table - that was part of their take home goody bag.

Good luck - what a fun age!

If your daughter and her friends like to dance(and your party space allows for it), you could get one of those step-by-step videos, instructing the newest line dances or backup dances for the Justin Beiber or Miley Cyrus crowd.... OR... we did makeover stations at my daughter's 9th bithday party. We just set up 4 stations and let the girls rotate...*makeup, *hair, *fingernails, *toenails. They LOVED it and many still talk about "that party you had" 2 years later.

I was thinking of sherades, you know you could write some ideas down on slips of paper and pick one child to act it out first, then who ever guesses first could be the next person to act something out. They could be silly! Next you could make up a silly story and tell it to the first person in line and then have them wisper it to the next and so on and so on then see what you end up with at the end of the line. How close was it to your real story? You could also have a spelling bee. Go back through homework and pick some words that you know they have already had. Have a great party!

If you have a wii, kids love Just Dance. You can borrow it or rent it if you don't own it. Is it a Halloween birthday? You can have a costume party. There's always bobbing for apples, pin the wart on the witch, Mummy Race (2 teams choose someone and the first team to wrap that person in toilet pare wins...take pictures/video!) Freeze dance, paint nails, hot potato, musical chairs, simon says, sack races, limbo stick, team scavenger hunt.

Frost Cupcakes.
Bake them the night before and then all the girls decorate their own cupcake for the party, then sing then eat, YEAH!!!

Make a long string with 20 strings hanging from that string then tie doughnuts to it or cookies and have them keep their hands behing their backs and eat the food, the fist one wins.

Musical Chairs
Hot potato
Board games

create spooky halloween names - 3 bowls. 20 pieces of paper in each. each paper has one name - can be crazy, funny, etc. each girl takes a turn pulling a name from each bowl. the three names together are their halloween name. example: Poppy Spooky Buns; Rain Giggly Legs

Hang man - it's a spelling game, where for every missed letter you draw a man being hung on a gallows. Words selected for this game can be related to the birthday girl. You'll need poster board and markers. It is sort of like wheel of fortune without the wheel.
