What advice can you give to help my son get better :(

What can I do next?

I have actually read that Vicks can be more harmful than helpful for young children/infants.

How long has he been sick?

Coughs and respiratory illnesses are tricky with infants. I would have him seen by a dr.

I agree - Tylenol is not going to help with cough/congestion. Tylenol is for pain/fever. If your child has a fever, and has for more than 24 hours, I would definitely all a doctor.

In addition, colds and other illnesses sometimes just take TIME to get better! There isn't always a magic cure and it is hard, as a parent, watching your child be sick or uncomfortable, but there is nothing you can do but push fluids and give extra hugs and cuddles! :-)
Good luck!

Tylenol is a pain reliever, and does not do anything for coughing or congestion.

7 month is very young, and illness is hard on their little bodies. Call your pediatrician and get him seen by a doctor.

My son is 4 months old and has been to the doctors numerous times for this cough & congestion thing over the past 2 months. We keep his mattress elevated, a cool mist humidifier on in his bedroom, a breathe strip (non medicated by pediasure) in his room at night and use lots of saline nasal spray and the sucker thing - and that seems to help. However, we have taken him numerous times - and he has been diagnosed twice with an ear infection and once put on a sterioid for his couch - and he NEVER ran a fever, therefore we never used FEVER reducing meds (until we discovered the ear infection - and even then we only did it for the first night each time since he was sensitive and sore after the poking in his ear).

I agree with the other posters - you need to get him into the doctor to see just what you are battling with. If it's just a viral cold - it can take lots of time, but sometimes they turn into other things.

Good Luck.

My homeopath suggested Eucalyptis oil in the humidifier in the baby's room when sleeping. It used to help my daughter tremendously

Call his ped and see if there is anything you can give him.

Try using a steamer of some kind. Even a bowl of very hot water, then very carefully hold him near the bowl so he can breathe in the steam. Make sure you keep his hands and feet away from the hot water. Hopefully the steam will loosen up the congestion and he will be able to breathe better.
