I would love to start a kids gluten free group and find someone who cooks gluten free meals in the Federal Way area. If anyone has any suggestions on places to shop besides Marlenes & Trader Joes please let me know.

What can I do next?

There is a new gluten free bakery in Kent - on east hill - owned by another mom with a child with allergies. I don't remember the name - but it is in the strip behind the starbucks that is just past Kent Meridian HS when you come up the hill - get some goodies and meet a mom all at the same time!

oops--I forgot to let you know (in all my excitement of sharing BumbleBars :D) that there is a movement to start a food co-op in Tacoma. We are in the beginning/planning phases still but will carry such products when we get up and running. If you are interested in getting involved with the planning, check out http://www.tacomafoodcoop.blogspot.com/
and let Amber know you would loke to help.

I'm in FW and have a 5 yo w/a gluten allergy. We get some stuff at FM. I would love to meet up and start a group. We are finally, after about 6 weeks getting comfortable w/this new lifestyle. My biggest struggle is my older 8yo ds who is not GF complaining how he has to go w/o gluten! I know there are others so let's start a group!

I'm in Kent, so I don't know of any real shopping suggestions. I do my flour shopping at a little HFS in Burien called the grainery. They will mill the flour for you from the bulk bins of ingredients. I just bought 4# of garbanzo beans, 2# of tapioca, 1# of buckwheat, and 1# of potato starch, all milled into flour for less than $20. Such an awesome deal. My idea would be to shop there, but make it a once a month thing. Get some storage tips for larger amounts of flour and buy 20lbs of each of your staples at a time. Maybe use a deep freeze for storage.

I'm only cooking gf for myself and my 20month old, so flour lasts a LONG time here.
