6 Year Old Complaining of Being Tired and Has Little Appetite?

I am being a little paranoid today, or I may not be...just in pain from getting tooth extraction and an infection and I have a 5 week old.
I'm a single SAHM of 3.
2 weeks ago my newborn had to be hospitalized for a night and monitored for 24 hours for reflux and apnea...
That night at the hospital, my 6 year old started vomiting. He had caught a stomach bug.
Had a fever the next day and diarrhea for another 5.
My 1 year old caught it the next evening and had it worse. And ended up catching an upper respiratory virus right after that he is barely just getting over lately.
My mother, myself and my newborn were thankfully spared. (My hands are still raw from how much bleaching I did that week!)
Anyways.

My 6 year old lately has had "sick eyes". He doesn't today...but did off and on the last few days. Today he is complaining he is tired and is actually laying down. He has no other symptoms.
He hasn't gotten his full appetite back since being sick. He will eat now but won't finish his food and will say he's sick of it. So I know his appetite isn't normal.
I know those aren't really any symptoms of anything. But it's definitely abnormal for my child and I'm just curious of what could make a child complain of being "tired". He got plenty of sleep last night as well.

My one year old is also driving me nuts with paranoia today as well. Acting fine (a little irritable) but otherwise playing and eating normally. But he is bloated? And he keeps touching his belly area. I noticed him doing it yesterday as well.

I am terrified of my children catching this again.
I have emetophobia really bad. ha! (It's a phobia of vomit. And yeah, I have it severe. To the point of having to check myself into the ER the night my oldest got sick at the hospital because I couldn't stop crying and thinking I was going to catch it and needed to go calm down)

What are the odds of my kids catching it again? I think I did an okay job sanitizing everything. Although I'm sure it's impossible to clean every tiny inch with bleach. And I have been being careful washing hands still with diaper changes.
My oldest has issues washing his hands and will fight me to the death. Even AFTER he uses the bathroom. He will go to the point of sneaking to go to the bathroom or #2 so that he can try and get away with not hand washing. -_-

Has anyone ever had their kids catch a stomach virus twice? Or within 2 weeks? I'd like to think my kids are done being sick since the last couple months have felt like a nightmare to me and I think my doctors office is already getting sick of seeing us. lol

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks.
Yeah, Unfortunately with the phobia, I've had it since I was a child and have tried everything from therapy to counseling to hypnotherapy to medication with no luck. :o/ Just something I have to deal with...or go crazy with. lol I actually never wanted to have children because of it! But ended up with three. And while I love them to death....I can NOT handle when they are sick and I end up needing my mom. (Who obviously isn't going to be around forever) So I'm still working on that. Just hard when the kids get sick and I haven't had the time to even work on myself!
I've been off my klonopin a few days because I've been taking T3 for this infection and dry sockets and feel terrible today. (out of it and foggy and shaky) It's making my anxiety act up for sure.

But my oldest has said he feels a little less tired but still not acting himself. And my little one is DEFINITELY not acting himself this evening. He's so hyper yet irritable. Will hit things or throw himself on the floor. He's not really showing me any signs of having strep or anything like that. Just the bloated belly and touching it a lot. (Which is what he was doing before the last time he got sick which is what has me worried. And before the puking started I noticed him lay down on the floor a couple times and thought "hmm. that's odd" and then he started vomiting)
So I don't know what to think of his behavior tonight. Hopefully it's nothing. But I've felt like I've needed 20 hands with these kids lately and SO busy and going back and forth between babies. And Sadly I only have two hands. lol It's been a bit crazy.
So I guess I'll have to see if I make it to tomorrow with otherwise healthy kids! *crossing my fingers*
I don't think my nerves can handle any more illnesses around here. No more sick kids please. lol And I DEFINITELY don't want to catch anything.
I'm just hoping they are done being sick this season. I'm dying for it to be summer. lol But I think most moms are. ;o)

Thanks SweetChaosWith3...
My children actually are already on a ton of stuff. My oldest hates it. For one, he has an allergy pill he has to take. Other than that...he's been on a multivitamin since he started solids. My one year old has been on vitamins since he started solids too. But he has a lot of health issues and will be having his second surgery soon...he gets sick a lot it seems too. My oldest has been on probiotics daily since he was a year and a half. And my youngest has been on probiotics since he was a baby...i put the powder in his bottle. I haven't started my newborn on probiotics yet. They aren't allowed any candy or soda...not even chocolate milk. lol And they have a very healthy diet. So it is beyond me how these children stay so sick all the time! O.O

How awful for you to have such a severe phobia. I am a bit phobic about it, but certainly not to the extent you are. If I were you, I'd be giving my oldest a daily multivitamin, plus additional Vitamin C and a probiotic supplement. You can find probiotics in a powder form, or as a gummy vitamin. They are also found in yogurt and Kefir. I would be loading him up with that stuff every day. The one year old is a bit young, but as soon as he/she was old enough, I'd be giving that child the same regimen, and then with your newborn once he/she is old enough.

There was another post on here yesterday about Thieves Oil ( a mineral oil) that you can put in a diffuser to purify the air in your home. Thieves Oil is supposed to get rid of bacteria and germs.

My mom swears by spraying your entire house with Lysol, then opening all the windows to air it out. Make sure all surfaces such as doorknobs, remote controls, phones, computer mouse, keypad and the like are sprayed down with Lysol or bleach.

You can't prevent 100% of illnesses, but by you and your family eating a healthy diet, taking supplements, getting the proper amount (or extra) of sleep, and good hand washing you can try to prevent as much as possible.

Best of luck!

My kids actually had it twice in the past month, but both times were pretty mild cases. (It may have been viral or mild food poisoning.) In my experience they or I do not lose our appetites or feel tired leading up to a stomach virus. We usually feel normal and the nausea comes on fairly quickly. When I am coming down with a cold I usually feel tired and lose my appetite.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I am a bit of an emetiphobe myself! I have had some professional experience (social work, counseling) with mental disorders, and Klonopin can cause withdrawal symptoms, even making your anxiety more severe. This would be only if you were taking it every day/all the time. Ideally, you should be treated with an SSRI (like Prozac) and use the Klonopin only for more severe anxiety attacks. Maybe you do take something else, you didn't mention it. But I would definitely NOT stop the Klonopin abruptly. If you are having withdrawals, taking one now will ease your anxiety. (And discuss all of this with your doctor. The class of drug is Benzodiazepine.)

Can't say I can help with your son much...he may just be tired and still recovering. We are all tired it seems from the time change! I do not think you can get the SAME stomach virus again, but there are usually a couple circulating each year. A doctor once told me once you are sick, you have an immunity to that particular virus for a few years. However, there are always different ones. But, it's unlikely your son is getting sick again. I would just try to relax and keep an eye on him, especially if he doesn't have any other symptoms.

I think i would take him to the doctor and have him checked out- it is very unusual for him to be so tired that he is laying down? Is he very thirsty and urinating a lot? Those are signs of diabetes- type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can be triggered by a virus.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It's enough just to have a newborn hospitalized!

I open windows when I can. I make sure hands are washed when i get home from the grocery store--or any time we walk in the door. Esp. from school.

Sit your 6 yr old down and tell him that everybody has been sick, so, the new rule is that the hands must be washed in the kitchen for 2 weeks. I did this once when we were all sick for almost a month. I do not use hand sanitizer, so they had to wash their hands in the kitchen with soap !!!

We have had strep and then, the stomach bug. This yr, One of my kids had a high fever w/ the stomach bug ...and then, she got a very, very bad cold afterwards.

I would see a doctor. He may never have had a stomach virus. Could be a strep throat. Go with your gut. You know something is off so see the doc.

Does your son have any rashes? If so see a doctor today.

It's a time of year that kids get sick. I am so sorry you have your phobia to deal with. If you don't get therapy it seems it would be wise to get some tips on how to deal with this. I'm afraid with small children it is bound to happen.

J.: I want you to know my grandmother was so afraid of throwing up that she never did! She passed out instead. LOL! She had eight children and I think when the older ones got old enough they helped out with the younger ones, so that 6 year old is only a few years away from helping out. In the meantime why not get yourself some babysitters as a back up AND and hang in there!
