6 Month Old Waking EARLY Just for Paci... Need Advice!

I have a wonderful almost 6 month old daughter. She slept through the night very early on and we counted ourselves very lucky! We are still using the miracle blanket (I know, probably should cut that out) but she really loves to be wrapped up and cuddly. She is perfect about going to sleep on her own. We don't have to rock her or anything, just wrap her up, give her the paci and put her in bed. Anyway, for the past few weeks, she has been waking up around 5 am fussing. When we go into her room, most of the time we can just give her the paci and she goes right back down till 7:15. Occassionally she needs to be changed but we can always put her back down. I guess it's not a huge deal, but we sure would like for her to go back to sleeping right through again!

If anyone has suggestions of what we could do, I would really appreciate some advice! Thanks so much!

yOU are very lucky. my first daughter was an early riser - still is aat 2 :( We did the same thing... paci, change diaper in crib if we wanted to sleep in. it gets a little better as they get older. i would put books in the crib, several pacifiers and a sippy cup of water. that would keep her busy when she woke-up in the morning. also, she could find a pacifier on her own since there were several in the crib. good luck

Well your teaching her to teach you to get up and get that paci in. ")
Unless she's a thumb sucker I would suggest that maybe you stop the paci now before the need gets bigger and harder to deal with later. "(
But I would either stop the paci or the miracle blanket not both at once.
I was a slave to the paci at this same age with my oldest son that's now 5. I got tired of getting up and decided he'd work it out of his own, which he did in a couple of nights.
Best Regards,
C.

We became slaves to the paci too and in a sense still are. We have a 13 month old son and he would wake several times a night for his pacifier. We finally started to let him cry when he woke at night and it eventually stopped all together (I would let him cry 10-15 mins at a time). Also, at about 6 months we started using the overnight diapers which really helped. We want to take the paci away by the time he turns 2 but we're dreading the 2-3 days of hell :)

Put several pacis in her crib and soon she will be able to reach out and get one and put it in her mouth. Until then just get up, give her her paci and count yourself lucky that she is such a good sleeper.

We put some extra pacis in our son's crib for him to find on his own (although I don't know if that would work if her arms are wrapped up in the blanket).

With our daughter, she only had the paci when she slept. She would wake up fussing and the paci would put her back to sleep. We did this for a while because it soothed her. Once she was old enough, we put several pacis in her crib so that she could reach them. By age 2, we easily get rid of the pacis because she was a "big girl" now.

Don't you just LOVE the Miracle Blanket???? I'm using it again on my second child and he's 4 months old and was sleeping through the night at 4 weeks!!! What a blessing! Here's what happened with my daughter and I bet my son will follow. She outgrew the miracle blanket lengthwise and we just wrapped her arms until about 5 months, then we would just wrap one arm for a while and place extra paci's by her on that side, then at 7 months is was time to transition out of the miracle blanket which I dreaded because I was working full time and needed sleep--but she transitioned fine. However, I do recall tip toeing into her room many a nights to give her the paci and she'd keep on sleeping after that. Soooo, until the babe can reach for the paci themselves, it might be you still getting it for them. Good luck!!!

I had this problem with my daughter, and a very good friend told me to put 4 or 5 pacies scattered around her head within arms reach. Eventually she'll learn to grab one and put it back in. It took a few nights for my daughter to get the hang of it, but when my daughter learned to look for the pacies, it worked like a charm! My daughter continued to be a good sleeper, and she still is.

Hope this helps!
