50 Shades of WOW! (JFF)

Who else is reading the 50 Shades series? I cannot put them down. My reading tastes do no usually involve erotic fiction, but there was so much fuss about these, I had to see for myself. I bought the first book on Thurs, and on Sun, I'm already nearly halfway through the second one. Despite being now WAY more educated about certain activities than I'd ever hoped to be, these books are addicting! Anyone else reading these? What are your thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I do have to admit that some of the story line is repetitive, like "okay already, drop it" kind of thing. Yes, I too thought "they're at it again???" But as far as the story line goes, for some reason I HAVE to know what happens next. That's why I cannot put it down. No, not the most well-written book, but the author does have a way of drawing you in and keeping you interested (well most of us). :) Thanks to all for your comments!

I've finished all 3 books. I think I read them all in less than a week. Like you my books don't normally involve erotica but these were very interesting. I thought they were pretty well written and had a sweet (for lack of a better word) story. I just enjoyed them ! And yes - I've learned more about things I never wanted to learn about than I ever thought I would !

I'm half way done with the 3rd book. Honestly, I'm flipping past all the sex stuff and just reading the action/romance stuff. The BDSM really didn't do anything for me, and I'm no prude to erotic novels.

Just consider it Twilight or Hunger Games for grownups :)

For the JFF part of your question...I let my husband read the "hard limits" and he about choked! His quote "if this is mainstream, we are WAY behind on what is going on out there!" Haha!

These books are so poorly written that I could hardly get through the Kindle sample (first chapter). I don't care how good the sex parts are (and many reviewers feel that those parts are even worse as far as both the writing and the accuracy) I couldn't stomach such atrocious writing.

yeah, so much better out there than this series. I'm happy for the author, but really ... a little google search, or a check of some live journal communities and everyone can find better, much better written fiction and for free.

:)

I read a lot of fan fiction, and this was not the best out there, for sure. Of course, I don't read Twilight fan fiction, so maybe this is the best that genre has to offer.

A lot of people in the BDSM lifestyle also hate this book for how inaccurate it is to reality.

I too do not normally read erotic books but had heard they are a must read. More then the sex, it seemed like the writer put cliff hanger after cliff hanger. I found they very very addicting.

I just finished book three! I found the first repetitive and I was annoyed at Ana then at the end of the first book I couldn't believe the ending! I am so glad I got book two and three they in my opinion are the best!

And yes I couldn't put them down either I read all three in 10 days! LOL

I must admit I'm into the 3rd book right now. I too am like "They are at it again?" but I can't seem to put them down because I have to see what's going to happen to Ana next. Someone here at work said that she can't seem to read past the 1st one just because she was making herself sick worrying about Ana.
I started reading to find out what all the hype was about and do enjoy the sex-free story line.

I have read the first. I just had to with all the hype. I agree that it isn't the best but I too was intrigued and had to finish it. Now I want to read the second and third. I am like you and have to know what happens!

You are the second person in the past few days that was asking about these books. The other was a guy who asked if I read them because his wife and all her friends are reading them and talk about them all the time. I hadn't read them but suggested he read them so he can keep up with their conversation..lol I may have to check them out.

I read the first one and I will not waste my time reading the rest of them. The writing was so horrible that I just don't want to waste my time with the rest. Not to mention how repetitive things got and how she really did not change anything from the fanfiction (which I had read). Also "my inner goddess" every other page. I would rather read The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, which has a better story, better writing style and just as much sex as these books.

For Laura

[[ Bondage & Discipline ... Sadism & Masochism ]]

__________

These fall into my 'guilty reads' list. As do most other romance novels. :) Totally love the genre, nearly never buy it, and hate to admit it!
