I'm looking for ideas for a 4th birthday party for my son. He has one close neighbor friend and a few other boys he likes in his preschool class (although we haven't had playdates with any of these boys.) What has worked for you or what would you suggest? A little party at our home for 4 boys and their parent(s)? Chuck E. Cheese with just the 1 neighbor friend? Any other ideas of fun places to have a party for a boy? Thank you for any advice!

What can I do next?

not sure where you are but Sci Tech in aurora does birthday parties and so does the naperville childrens museum. I avoid chuckie cheese at all costs lol. but the sci tech thing is great it is hands on and the kids love it. we started taking the grandkids there when they were really little. they loved it.

If you want to do Chuck E. Cheese, I have some advice. My godson's 6th birthday was there a few months ago (location in Tinley was very nice and clean). He had about 5 friends from school attend, plus my daughter. The nicest thing about it was that it was on a weekday afternoon, so it was very empty in there. I've heard weekends are terribly crowded! Plus, since it was a small group, they did not organize an actual party through the place, the mom just ordered pizzas and bought tokens (even used coupons), and set up her own party. The staff was very accommodating and did not mind that we through our own party there. It was much more economical that way. Best of all, the kids had a BLAST, including my daughter. She's not 4 yet, but she was able to play many if the games and go on the little rides. Since it wasn't crowded, the parents could sit at the table and see what the kids were doing as they moved around the room. I never thought I'd enjoy a party there, but it was great during the week with no crowds! Kids that age have a lot of energy, and you know they won't be bored there. Have fun!

Look at My Gym. They are located near Toys R Us/Fox Valley Mall. Great for kids that age!!

I am all for parties at home. They have totally gone to the wayside for the "bigger is better" bday party. Remember all the fun games we used to play at bday parties as kids? I think they'd have a great time:)

Odyessey (sp?) Fun World in Naperville or Tinley is always fun. There's an arcade, a HUGE 3 or 4 story enclosed indoor park with an awesome lounge area for parents & toddler area, bumper cars, rides, and laser tag. And, private party rooms. There's a few inexpensive packages to go with on their website. We usually go with the two options plan; indoor park and a roll of tokens.

I always opt for this place rather than Chuck E Cheese because of the large and secured indoor park. The kids actually get to play with one another and chuck e cheese is more one on one with arcade games.

Also note that there's a time limit on the room only. Your guests can use the facility as long as they're open.

We've had our son's 2nd, 3rd & 5th birthday there. Never been disappointed.

Hope this helps!
