My 4 year old has been potty trained for over a year now and for about 4 months she was doing extremely good even at nights. But occasionally she now has accidents every night for like a month straight. At what age should a child be able to go thru ther night without any accidents? Should I be contacting the doctor or wait a little longer? I have already cut down the amount of liquids a few hours before bed and i send her potty b4 bed. Any other tips, tricks and advise would be helpful!

What can I do next?

My son is five we had that problem and has increasingly gotten better. First we limit his drinking like no drinking anything after 7 pm. Made him go pee before he went to bed. Weve chewed him out after him doing it every night and so he got better about getting up himself and going when he needed to. I know sometimes he sleeps to hard and cant wake himself up. We let it slide once but like if he does it two nights in a row we disipline him. He down to maybe having and accident once or twice monthly.

My uncle had to have surgery when he was a kid becuase his body wouldnt clamp that tube off to where he could get up and go to the bathroom. My mother had the same problem, but it cleared up and she didnt have to have surgery. It might be something that you can talk to her doctor about becuase until my daughter had a problem at 5 I didnt know any of this from my family. It can also be emotional, if there are changes in her life her bladder can be affected.

All i could say is Try to limit fluid intake after dinner which you have already done. I am not sure what age they grow out of it. i have heard of people being 11 and still having accidents. Also it may be that she is have some sort of nightmares that are scaring her. Is there anything that has changed in the house? that could be it as well. My 5 year did that and it turned out to be the fact that she was in to deep of a sleep to know she had to go to the bathroom. so i would try and maybe wake her up in the middle of the night. Good luck with it.

i have a four year old son, and he wears pull ups to bed, the doctor says he will just out grow it. it could be the cold weather comming in........or that they sleep to deeply. instead of getting upset, just go buy some pullups for bedtime, it saves on laundry, and it doesn't make your child that they are doing something wrong. cause they aren't. they just are too young to really know any better........especially when they are sleeping!

I believe that every kid is different. I have one that has been potty trained since she was about 2 and a half, even at night. Then I have an older one that still pees a little bit in her underwear at night (6 years old!) and I even have one that is 3 and potty trained in the day time, but there is no way he could hold it at night. I think his bladder is too little. Don't criticize, or let them think that they are in trouble. They make pull-ups that can fit up to a 12 year old I believe, and it makes the child feel better actually. They don't want to wake up with urine all over them and their bed. Be patient. My oldest took a long time just to stop peeing competely in the bed. Now she knows if she starts to dribble and gets up herself and will use the bathroom and change underwear. All in time!

I think it will just take awhile. Two of my kids wet the bed for a long time, and nothing was wrong. They did fine during the day.It was just a matter of time, and less liquids before bed. K.

Try waking her up when you go to bed to go to the restroom. I did that with my son and it seemed to help him. I guess it helped him recognize the urge to go better and he started waking himself up to go if needed. Good Luck

I set the potty in her room with a night light and then when that didnt work, it hurt me more than her, but I spanked her and told her to get up and go. But, my boy wet the bed until he wasd twelve and gre out of it. If it persist, I'd talk with doctor

My 5 year old cousin is having the same trouble, peeing the bed all the time. They can't figure out why because he has been potty trained for years and is in school. You can talk to your childs doctor they might be old enough to be prescribed pills that help the situation, especially since your childs been potty trained over a year and you cut out liquids before bedtime.

My daughter sabreena is exactly the opposite i use to yell and scream at her to get out of the bathroom. Then one day i noticed while she was bathing that she had blood in the water I took her to the dr. to find out what is going on. That is when she had to have surgery because her tubes were to tight and her half sister is exactly the oppisite so what i can tell you is you need to see a dr. first before anything else and then go from there.
