4 Year Old Sneezing a Lot

My 4 year old son has been sneezing a lot throughout the day lately. It started a few weeks ago. He wakes up sneezing a few times and then zneezes about 15-20 times a day every day. I was wondering if that could be allergies or is it because it is getting cold outside and he's cold? He's not sick, other then the sneezing he's fine.

What can I do next?

Hi Yvette,

It's quite possible he has seasonal allergies, (It was called Hayfever when I had it in my teens). Late spring, early summer and late summer, early fall, is when I was affected most. I didn't just sneeze though, I had a running nose and itchy eyes too.

If it doesn't seem to be affecting him and he doesn't have any other symptoms, I wouldn't worry about it, maybe ask your pediatrician at your next scheduled visit...even if the visit is for your daughter.

It sounds like allergies - especially if there isn't a fever. My 4 year old has the same symptoms off & on right now. I've used a homeopathic remedy by a company called Nelson's to help her with her symptoms. They sell it at Dominick's in their natural food area.

I bet he has allergies. My husband gets congested and sneezes a lot from late August through September. I believe it is weed/ragweed that causes it. Actually I just checked weather.com and weed is high from late August to mid October. I bet that is what it is. If he is uncomfortable you may ask the doctor about an antihistamine. You may also try keeping the air on during that time of the year and keeping the windows closed. Poor guy!!

Have you changed anything in your home at all? Cleaning products contain toxic chemicals in them - if you have changed: laundry detergent, air fresheners, bathroom cleaning products --anything like that, you need to get rid of it. Have you had your carpets cleaned or changed soaps or shampoos? If you are interested, please read my profile about my home business - we specialize in making natural products. Many allergy, asthma, and people with lung issues have found relief using our products. You need to find the source. Do you have any animals? Dust mites can cause allergic reactions - if your not interested in my companies products, I would recommend doing a search on the internet for natural ways to clean the air. Also, strip his bed and vacuum his mattress and pillows - this may help also. Let me know if your interested in learning about my company - I hope this info is helpful :)

Yep, sounds like allergies. The past couple of weeks has been bad as far as mold count is concerned. Take him to an allergist or just the pediatrician. My sons did the same thing.
