My dd woke up at 4am and threw up, she also had diarrea (spelling?) most of the day today. She has no fever and seems to feel fine- good appetite, ect. This happened once about 2 wks ago after she ate way too many blueberries and once last week for no reason that we could figure out (just the vomiting that time). Each time the only throwing up happened in the middle of the night. She just had a check up and everything was fine. Any idea whats going on? Shes never had issues with spitting up or anything- also any OTC meds I can give her to help, all I could find was baby tums, and of course im keeping her hydrated :) TIA

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Of course I broke down and took her to the doctor, who said pretty much the same exact thing that everyone on here said, lol- lots of rest and push fluids.

Food allergy comes to mind.

I would keep track of what you are feeding her and when she is having the issues.

Then you can help connect the dots on what could be causing her to get sick!!

Lots of clear liquids. Stay away from orange juice.. No milk.. Toast

gatorade has lots of electrolytes to keep her hydrated... if it is worse tomorrow take her to the doc.

let her sleep.

My 4 year old did the same thing (8 times in 6 weeks, between 6-9 nights apart), but now its been 3 weeks since its happened so I'm hoping everything is ok. We went to the DR after the 7th time and he ordered blood work and a abdominal US. Both came back fine. Not sure what was causing this. It wouldn't hurt for you to go to the Pedi and see what they say. During our trip he seemed pretty stumped. They may send you to a GI doc.

Best wishes!

give her good old fashioned Vernors to calm her tummy. the ginger and carbonation in it do wonders.

She may be sensitive to acidic foods. So keep her away from acidic foods, such as anything with tomatoes, orange/grapefruit juice, etc

Also, does she eat fast? Show her to put her fork/spoon down in between each bite. She is old enough to understand that doing this may help her feel better.

Does she have allergies?

Have you taken her to a chiropractor? You'd be surprised how much better a person/child feels after having an adjustment. If it is acid reflux, having an adjustment gets the back in line and relieves pressure on the esophagus.

Giving your child tums, helps temporarily but isn't getting to the root of the problem.

One last thing is giving her a supplement that contains enzymes which helps the food digest. This may help, but I encourage you to pursue with doctors to find the souce of the problem.

i watch mystery diagnosis and this little girl would wake up at the exact same time every night and vomit. She did this every night for 6 months . They could not find anything wrong ( virus don't last 6 months) well it ended up she was epileptic and having a seizure and her bodies reaction was to vomit. Actually to me it kind of sounds like reflux. I agree with the other mamas and watch what she's eating when it happens. Probably something simple and I hope all is well. Good luck love.
