my son has been sedated a few times for MRIs...as well as a few colonoscopies...keep your head up! she needs to see you be strong, so she wont be scared! hugs
Recently, my daughter has been complaining that her "pee pee is bubbling" or "it feel like I farting through my pee pee". I took her to the doctor and everything looked fine and a urinalysis came back clean. It's been a couple of weeks and as time goes on, it seems to be happening more frequently.. she has only of pain a couple times but is extremely annoyed by it. They now want to schedule her for an MRI for which she will have to be sedated.. :( Anyone else gone through this?
So.. we went for MRI yesterday and they instead chose to do a Barium Enema.. Xrays with contrast.. we did NOT have a good day. This is a horrible test to do on children. On the plus side, her tests came back normal. We are going to give her some time to see if she grows out of it.. She struggles with constipation and HATES going poop.. She could be clenching her little butt cheeks so hard that she is pushing the gas forward. The test was for fistulas from the rectum and colon. If things don't work themselves out we will then schedule tests for a bladder fistula. Thanks for the responses.

I can think of a couple of things. If she is sitting down and "farts", the air can actually go into the vagina and then when it comes out, it will feel like it is coming from the front.
Though I have never heard it with a child, but in adults that they can develop holes in the bladder and gas and bowel movement can actually come through the urethra. This is seen sometimes in patients with fistulas after radiation treatments or surgeries. I have had two patients with this in the past 3 years. The urine will have stool and bubbles and patients will report passing air through the bladder. In my 42 year career as a nurse, I have had patients with this at least a half a dozen times.
Hopefully nothing that serious.
Keep us posted! My 5.5 year old occasionally says similar things, though nothing about pain.
No issues with "bubbling", but my (at the time) one and a half year old needed to be sedated for an MRI. I was utterly terrified, but he came through it like a champ! Kids deal with this stuff so much better than adults! Good luck, mama. I know it's scary to have things going on with your baby!
(To be honest, I SOOO wish being sedated was an option for me when I need MRIs!)
My daughter was 7 when she was sedated for an MRI. I was terrified but she came out of the sedation without any problems. I hope you get answers and it is nothing serious.
I was told that this happens when a Diabetic has a UTI, this happens to my mother from time to time.
I hope you figure out the issue, but that is my "offering"
