L.T.
Even though he says he's feeling better, I'd still take him in. I have a member of my own family who when they run a below 98.8 temp, they go in and see the doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry
He has a low temp, has been laying on the couch all day, sleeping for about 5 min to about 20 intervals. not drinking anything really (except when I sit there to make sure he does. He has eaten a total of 1 1/2 slices of bread refuses to eat anything else, if I ask him if he hurts he points to his face. Am I just over reacting (normally we encounter colds and that doesn't slow him down) I am not used to him being on the couch. So lady's I am wondering is this anything to be concerned about? or am I just an over protective mom. Thank you
I just want to thank you ladies!! So right after I wrote and asked what was wrong he decided to get off the couch, he played some (granted he was still very whiny) and he asked for chicken to eat, but I made mac n cheese, he had two helpings plus part of a sandwich. After he ate he was back to 100% not whining, he even took his pillow of the couch and said I'm not sick anymore. So I'm going to keep my eye on him, but I think I over reacted. I'm scratching my head over this but I thank you all again.

The temp doesn't always indicate how sick your child is. There can be a low temp and something could be really wrong, or there could be a high temp with just a cold. The best indication is how he's acting. If he doesn't want to drink anything, and if he's really lethargic you might want to take him in to see a doctor. I'd go with your gut feelings on this one.
If you are concerned for him I ould take him into the dr
Does your doctor have a nurse line you can call? I do that when I am debating taking my kids in. If this illness seems odd to you, trust your feelings and bring him to get checked, it's better to err on the safe side. Hope he gets better soon!
One of the things I'm learning is that kids aren't necessarily exhibiting the symptoms of what they feel. My four year old complained of a sore throat, grabbed his throat, begged for water...and promptly threw up. He never said a thing about a tummy ache. A month later, he said he had a horrible headache, and was very consumed by it. Six days went by before we noticed his glands, and took him in. He'd had strep for six days. The common denominator in all this was that my kid was acting...weird. Different. Not himself. So...if that happens again, I'd say something IS wrong--and sometimes, with my four year old, it's not physical but emotional, so that might be worth checking. It was around 3 that my son started being so much more aware of the world, and therefore afraid of things that previously had not bothered them at all. But--I'm glad to hear he's feeling better. Whatever it was, it seems to be gone!
Almost sounds like a sinus infection, I'd take him to the doctor because it can get worse and cause all kinds of problems. Sinus infections are very painful.
I hope he gets to feeling better real soon!
I know that right now you have resolved this but i still feel the need to give some imput. If your son has these syptoms again i would recommend taking him in to the doctor right away. My nephew (3)had similar symptoms but continued to refuse to eat enough and he ended up in the hospital in a near coma and had to stay for a few days. They found out that he has a motabolism disorder and if he doesn't eat enough carbs and starchs his body starts to shut down. normal kids can go almost three days and eat very little and be fine, but my nephew isn't ever supposed to go more than 5 hours without eating carbs of some sort. Eventually he should out grow it but for right now his parents have to realy watch it.
I don't want to freak you out but i would recommend at least mentioning it to your doctor next time you go in.
Have you checked his teeth? It's about the only thing I can think of you would be able to notice. If he's urinating it might just be a bug but trust your gut. Sometimes infections can run the same way and it's easier to treat early on rather than later.
Hope he feels better soon.
This could be a sinus infection. I would take him into the doctor to be sure.
