3 Year Old B-day Party Gifts - How Much to Spend?

we don't spend more than 10$ per kid when both of our kids are invited to a party, so either two 10$ presents or one 20$ one. for us. and I usually get things like books or craft things depends on the age of the child. I NEVER buy things that I wouldn't want someone getting my own child.

I would do one gift. She probably will have too many anyway.
My daughter, who is 3, LOVES Fancy Nancy books. There are a few out right now. Her mom would probably appreciate a book over a bunch of toys she is going to have to pick up all the time! :)

I would say $10-15. Kids get so much stuff and we have so many kids parties these days. You have to spen wisely. I love to hit up the clerance toys and get $30 toys for $10. Walmart has a good bit of clearance right now. I also do the clearance table at the book store. I stock up on the good ones when I find them so that I have a selection to choose from. Just look around and you will be surprised what you can find.

I would just get one gift from both boys for 10-15 bucks. Maybe 20 if something really catches your eye and they're close friends. My oldest just had his 3 year birthday party, and got a variety of nice gifts. I'm sure some were $10 and some were $20, but he loves them all and just enjoyed unwrapping them and receiving them! Personally I only expect one gift per family, and wouldn't be offended if no gift was given. I've tried to emphasize with my child that the important thing is having friends over to celebrate with and to have a special time -the gifts are a bonus! We are trying to watch our $$$, but we usually spend around $10-$15 on a gift, more if it's a really close friend. At a young age, you can get away with a lot!

Hello~ I would do one nice $20 gift. If you do the little things it's just more to track and put away.
Now days you could buy lots of "learning" toys and they'll enjoy it. Also, with summer coming up you could
buy something for outdoors and/or pool toys. Good luck!

I'd say either one 15-20 dollar gift or two 5-10 dollar gifts or conbanation of things that equual your doller amount (washable crayons, coloring books, a small beach toy, etc). Kids toys aren't cheap and the older they get, the more expensive they are!! Set limits now because once your boys start school, the invatations will start coming left and right!

From a grandmother who attends many birthday parties. One gift and a gift card would be the best bet (walmart, toys r us). Save you the time and its price wise.

One gift would be appropriate. I agree with the limit $15-20. We had a bday party for a 3 yr old so I went to Michaels and bought this bubble tote with handles for less than $10 but they always have 40% off coupons and I decorated her name with stickers and she has it to keep her stuff in. And I filled with some chalk, and coloring stuff. Simple and inexpensive.

I think it Varies on what you are able to spend. I have 3 boys and they all three have been invited to one persons birthday party before...I usually call the mom of the birthday person and ask what are some of the things they like. I can say this most kids get plenty of toys summer is coming so if it was me (and I have done this with a big hit at the party) I have bought a beach towel of their fav color or theme on it, superhero with a bag filled with summer fun items...bubbles, goggles, pool toys or any outside toy or a bucket filled with pool items and a towel and pool shoes. Now if these folks don't do the kiddie pool thing and don't want that then I go for a blanket for a kid same as above fav color superhero etc.. with some cool things for their bedroom ex: nightlight, pillows, some educational music on a cd or a learning dvd they might like. Oh, big hit kids always love the crayola color wonders with any of those items. I having three kids invited spend around 20-30 dollars...but it's up to you...

I have had parties and spent a good amt on them but a party is just that had folks bring 3 kids and bring one gift for under 10 dollars...didn't matter the thought was there and my kids really just wanted to enjoy their company of their friends...it doesn't matter what you spend it's up to you I've got things at the dollar store and know one was any more wise they just loved it.

I think I would bring two gifts, but not go too expensive on each. I like to give music-related presents because they can stimulate a child's growth in many areas--and be fun too. You can find some good deals on the SALE and CLEARANCE pages at the Kindermusik website. You will be charged shipping on the original price, but if you buy several (to save for future needs) the shipping per item is more reasonable. We use activities like these in our weekly Kindermusik classes.

I would say 1 gift from both boys would perfect. Also, for gifts, you can find great gifts for not much money. For example, we are going to a 2yr old party this Saturday and the gift is a happy birthday Sesame Street coloring book, and 2 Little Einsteins books (one is a drawing book that has an etch-a-scetch type drawing device on top of the book). I have spent less than 10 dollars on all three items. The coloring book was found at the dollar tree and the other books at Borders on a clearance shelf. There was an entire kids books shelf that were all discounted there.you can also look at places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and Tuesday Mornings for books and kids stuff at great prices. And I really like giving books. Hope this helps!

Hi, as far as how much to spend, I find in these hard economic times, most people don't expect a lot of money to be spent and many stores, like wal-mart and target usually have reasonable prices. You could get two gifts for around $10 each or a larger one for about $20. I think that would be fair. It also depends on how your boys feel. Would they each like to present their gift or would they have a problem if they "make" two different birthday cards and put them both on one gift. At the parties my son has been to, the birthday child doesn't open the gifts at the party anyway. Hope that helps
