Hi Mammas!

My husband and I are planning on starting to try for our third soon and I was just wondering if anyone knows if 3 carseats will fit in a BMW 530d? My other daughters are 2 1/2 and 18 months so we definitely need 3 car seats. We live in Switzerland and the BMW is my husbands company car. It's on a 3 year lease and we will only be on year 2 so it will be a huge pain to switch cars, so *fingers crossed* someone will have some good news! Thanks for your help! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I would actually LOVE to get a minivan, but we won't be able to do that until we move back to the US. When we get pregnant we will be looking into new carseats for everyone! Thanks again mamas! :)

If your oldest is going to be over 3 years old when the baby comes, you can get a vest-style seatbelt (called "Saferider"). We use it in cabs in NYC, and it legally replaces a carseat if your child meet the weight/height requirements. Then you will certainly be able to fit 2 other carseats in the rear. We only use it infrequently, though, and my daughter doesn't legally NEED a seatbelt in taxi cabs, but I thought I would pass along the idea.

Hi A.! We have a Sunshine Kids Radian carseat. It is very narrow and supposedly you can fit 3 across in a seat. I know we could in our CRV. You could check it out. I also like it because it folds up for travelling. Just note that it is a heavy seat (20 pounds), but I don't mind that.

It depends on your car seats. Some are made with a slimmer profile in mind. Measure what you've got and what you are thinking to buy.

I second the sunshine kids radian. They boast about how you can fit 3 carseats across in an average car. We have just one so far, but it is very slim and fits well in one seat.

gosh, I have a 3series wagon and could possibly squeeze a rear facer in the middle with the two convertables on the side. I would assume a 5 series is a little larger. Regardless, you will need slimer brands of convertables/front facers (read - not Britax - they are monsters - LOL!)
I don't know how things work in switzerland, but at babies r us in US you can typically sweet talk the sales folks to take the car seat out to your car and estimate the fit.
Not sure if any of that helped, but I am sure you could make it work if you needed:)

I have 535 xi which is a pretty decent size sedan but unfortunately, the last infant car seat won't fit! With three kids, your best choice is to get a minivan and be comfortable!!!! Sorry! I never saw myself in a mini van but it's a best thing ever. Good luck and congrats!
