My mother in law just called me at work. She said my daughter has not peed all day. She is holding herself, crying, saying owee and saying her tummy hurts. I am waiting for a call back from the pediatritions office but I am really stressing out.
Have any of you dealt with this before? Im thinking urinary tract, kidney, bladder, but she mentioned this weekend that her tummy hurt. She didn't have a bowel movement on saturday but did on sunday. Didn't ask MIL about mon or yesterday. I'm so worried and I hate that they will probably catheter her.
Just in case it matters, we have recently started potty training.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

MIL called and said that she peed a little then called back to tell me that she then peed a diaper FULL. She said that she didn't cry or whine or say ow so we are very relieved. I am still taking her to the Dr. tomorrow- instead of rushing her there today. I am so relieved. As is she :) (sorry for the pun!)

Sounds like a stone is blocking her urinary tract. I'm not a Doc., but I know that this is a VERY painful condition, and I would take her to the E.R. NOW.
She will be fine: Ultrasound can break-up the stone if she doesn't pass it soon. He bladder is VERY full by now, so pile towels under her on way to E.R. in case stone passes in car. Find out what kind of stone it is (composition). She may need to change her diet a bit. Research the diet, but follow up W/ a visit to a D.O. ( Osteopathic Doctor)- they figure out root causes and know MUCH more re. nutrition than M.D.'s do; You don't want this to reoccur.

My 6 year old had a urinary tract infection and she was the same. as your daughter. My Dr had testing, urine dip and she even had a ultrasound. Her Dr said if my daughter gets another he will send her to a specialist.

Something my mom taught me & I have taught my daughter which helps with burning/pain during urination is to use a squirt bottle & spray water while urinating. It lessens the pain & therefor the fear of going to the bathroom.

Hi Beth, Glad it seems to have worked itself out. Some thoughts:
1. Does your daughter drink enough water?
2. How is her salt intake?
3. Does she drink cranberry juice which is good for the urinary tract?
