I'm having a rough time with my pregnancy. I just started my 2nd trimester and so far I have had 2 UTI's, a cyst on my right ovary and kidney stones. Since these aren't pleasent things I am wondering if something else is going on. Could there be something wrong with my kidney? I have had kidney stones once before in 2005 and they were really painful. Has any one every dealt with this many kidney problems this early one?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a loss and am really not sure what to do.

Thanks

What can I do next?

I really can't answer you on the kidney question however when i had UTI problems I found dried cranberry tablets in place of cranberry juice. You eliminate the calories and can take daily with your vitamins which can help keep the balance in your system. Shouldn't interfere with anything for the pregnancy either. It could be that your hormone fluctuation is messing with your system. Talk with your doctor but if they aren't concerned I wouldn't be either. Wish you a happy healthy baby!

Have they checked your blood for Abnormal creatinine levels? This would indicate a kidney problem. Protien in your urine would also point to kidney issues but with the UTIs it might be hard to say just protien in the urine means kidney since that is the indicator for utis. I would ask if they can do a blood draw and check the creatinine level

I could have written this post a year ago. I've had multiple kidney stone with both of my pregnancies. They are a pain to deal with when your not pregnant and even worse when you are. Start by drink a ton of water. Also try not to drink ANY carbonated beverages. The next time you see your doctor tell them you are really concerned. I will warn you about the first test they use to figure out whats going on is a 24 hour urine. Basically you keep all your urine in a plastic jar for 24 hrs. It a mess to deal with. I also agree with another poster about that there is a hormonal component to your kidney stones (yea, pregnancy).

I also dealt with a large ovarian cyst this last pregnancy. Have they done a recent sonogram? Mine finally started going down at about 12 weeks and ws much better by 18 weeks. They can be a real pain, but there is not much they can do about those.

I sorry your having a miserable pregnancy. For some of us women its just not a very comfortable time in our lives. Message me if you have more questions.

My husband just had kidney stones, and they said that it's too much protein built up with not enough water.
I think if you drink a ton of water, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and eat yogurt with active live cultures, that will do a world of good. I'm sorry that I have no concrete answers.
Good luck!
