2 YO In Doctor's Office Waiting Room.....

How do you deal?
I have to take my 2 YO son with me to get my allergy shots. This requires, not only waiting to get in to actually get the shots, but after the shots I have to wait another 20 minutes before leaving (they want to make sure you don't go into shock after the shots).
I've done it a few times in the past....but he is older now and harder to entertain.
Ideas????
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I hate to admit it, but my best solution are the free kids' apps that I've downloaded onto my iPhone.

I think you just need to entertain him as you would anywhere else for that amount of time. Coloring/toys/snacks...etc. Good luck!

take snacks and a few favorite toys or coloring books. My daughter always like pen and paper at the age, she felt like a big girl to not use crayons. Also if you have a smartphone theres plenty to do.

Take some books to read while you wait, does he like to color? If so take some like one or two markers/crayons to color, do you have a magna doodle or anything like that he likes to do? Does he have any little things he likes to play with? Maybe match box cars or hot wheel cars? They're small enough or other small little toys like that? My kids did these type of things when I took them.

Bring a back pack with some of his toys. I had to bring my daughter with me on most of my appointments (dr or dentist) and a portable DVD player was a must. I use my iPhone now if she is with me, but I try to schedule things when she is in school.

when I had to take my kids with me. I did after breakfast in the morning or after nap in the afternoon. I would bring their little Baby Gap backpack with about 4 toys in it - matchbox cars, books, etc. that they could play on the floor.

Now? they are 9 & 11 - they play Angry Birds on my phone or we play Uno (I have a deck in my purse).

Do you have an iPod/Pad...any kind of phone that has aps?
My 2yr old LOVES when she gets to play with my phone. I've got videos on it just for a few, as well as a few kids apps for games.
I can usually buy an hour out of her with that!

When I am waiting in the doctor's office (which is a lot lately) I walk my son back and forth through the waiting room area. It keeps him calm and entertained and less crazy. He has to hold my hand or I tell him we have to sit down.

I do it until our name is called then when we are back in the doctors office I tell him he has to sit like a good boy. Which sometimes works and sometimes doesnt. When it doesnt I give him his juice sippy, and a toy that I stash away that he hasn't seen in awhile. That usually helps.

Take books or a favorite toy or some small item that he hasn't seen in a while. Let him play with their toys and use hand sanitizer.

Find a local Mothers Day Out program, that's what lots of moms do so they can go to docs appointments and shopping by themselves. Just make your appointments for the days they are enrolled to attend.

We had a plastic "tool Chest" that was always kept in the car.
Colors, paper, stickers, stamps, small toys, Playing cards (as he gets older) I also would take books and snacks with a juice box..
