I have a two year old daughter, who is not talking like all of the other 2 year olds I see. I talk and read to her, she just won't talk, what can be done to help her communicate with me?
Good advice from everyone. Guess what she is talking now OMG too much, but I love it she is doing everything all the other kids are doing. Thanks for the excellent advice I was really stressing over this. I guess I just needed to give it some time.

You can also contact Easter Seals who can also do a Speech EValuation and they have a sliding scale fee in case payment is a concern. M.
Does she seem to understand everything you say to her? And is she at least saying a few things? It may just be that she doesn't find the need to use speech to communicate... some kids take longer than others. I'd go ahead and do the free evaluations just to calm your fears, but it could very well be that she's just fine!
Hi, you say your having trouble with her talking to you and she doesn't talk like the other 2 year olds, maybe if she has some little friends that come over frequently that maybe a little older and are speaking she might start trying to be like them. I know with my girls if one does the other will too. They tend to respond better to each then me most of the time, their so independent it drives me crazy sometimes their 2 and 3. Even if she dosen't start speaking right away it could just be that she isen't ready every child is different. Good luck and god bless
I was 18 when I had my daughter, whom had the same issue. She was barely saying "ma ma" at almost 3. I took her at age 3 to a speech therapist and with a few "months" I could not shut her up. She was also diagnosed (correctly) with ADHD. My daughter now is a pre-law student. My point is to get her diagnosed, not by a family doctor, but a speech therapist and other specialist that deal with special need children.
I would contact ECI. They will do a free evaluation and free therapy!
You might want to check out ECI(Early Childhood Intervention) Program which I belive it is free until the age of 3.
Good Luck
