Sounds good to me! I'm not a huge fan of the "What to Expect" books, but the "What to Expect: The Toddler Years" book has developmental milestone lists for every toddler age that go by, "should be able to," "may be able to," and "may possibly even be able to." You could probably Google it and get the same lists. Just remember though -every child is unique! NEITHER of my boys could put an article of clothing on by themselves by 2.5 (which is one of the milestones), but they could both say their ABCs, name numerous friends, point out well over 30 objects correctly, identify their colors, basic shapes, etc., and many of those are considered advanced milestones for that age. My oldest could name every animal imaginable, but my youngest isn't so great with naming animals -but modes of transportation -yes! A lot just depends on the kid!
