McDonalds was the place for me when my kids were that young it was cheap and it provided a playground for the kids to romp around and get rid of some of that toddler energy.
I have 8 month old twin girls who will be turning 1 in Nov. I am trying to come up with some ideas for a party for them that will not be too overwhelming for them (or me). We live in an apartment so a party at the house is out of the question. We are members of the Dallas Zoo and I have looked into doing a party there. Has anyone had a party there, and would it be enjoyable to a 1 yr old? I have also thought about McDonalds or Pump It Up Junior. Any ideas would be helpful. When my oldest turned 1 we had a picnic at the park for everyone, but that was in the summer. I am not sure I want to plan something like that in Nov since the weather can turn cold unexpectedly.

We took our daughter to the zoo before she was 1 yr old (maybe 10-11 mos?) and she LOVED it. She is always excited to see dogs, cats, etc., so we thought she might be kind of interested, but she was way more active and into it then we thought. She was really good at spotting the animals...we also have a couple of baby einstein dvds that have lots of animals, i don't know if that helped, but i can't wait for the weather to cool off so we can bring her back! She also loved the dallas world aquarium at that age, but it is probably pricey (and difficult to stay together in) for a party. Also you can bring picnic items and small coolers into the zoo.
Does your apartment complex have a clubhouse that you can use for a party? How about a Halloween costume party? Invite other kids and family and have all wear a fun (not scary) costume. It will make for great photos and memories. Your twins will just enjoy the activity and the cake. And then you will be close to home for the post-party nap! Have fun.
The Arboretum is beautiful in October/November. They typically have special events for kids every Monday and Tuesday so your guests could join in on those things - petting zoo, face painting, children's concerts and then you could bring along a picnic lunch. Everybody would come away with beautiful pictures of the day and all the entertainment would be covered in the parents' admission price.
Not sure how close to the end of October their birthday is, but a pumpkin patch could be lots of fun! The Big Orange Pumpkin Patch and also one at a church in Frisco-- Pumpkins on the Prarie, I think, both offer parties I believe. I have done Gymboree Play & Music and that is lots of fun, easy, and very age appropriate!
Congratulations!

Plan a party for YOUR comfort and convenience in mind for the most part. They're not going to care or remember. The first birthday is really YOUR rememberence of a very special day. Take it easy, enjoy - have your friends and family over - maybe do a potluck. Perhaps a friend or family member has the space for a get-together? Have fun!
I don't know where you live but local churches have "treehouses" that you can rent for parties that are not too expensive. Church at the Cross in Grapevine is very reasonable or Monkey Business in Bedford. FYI- it would be cute to do favors that are double like doublemint gum or double stuff oreos would be fun. Good luck

I went to a birthday party at The Little Gym a few months ago and it was a lot of fun. My daughter had a wonderful time! They are good with kids of all ages, plus the parents can participate. Good luck!
