T.K.
I am going to second Target, they do an excellent job decorating and the cake is good and resonably priced.
We are having my son's first birthday at the end of the month and I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to get a cake and good places for catering for about 30-40 people.

Not sure how close you live to North Aurora but the Cakery in the strip mall by Randall and Oak has great cakes!
we just had a party for my daughter's baptism with 40 people & we used Rosati's catering. we've used them before, & the food is great, generous portions & super inexpensive & its soo easy they provide everything! there are Rosati's Pizza's all over & they have a packages called a budget buster for $99 that is for 20-25 ppl, ( which we doubled, but you just order extra al a carte b/c there was sooo much left over) but it has 30 pcs of chix, 4lbs of italian beef & rolls, choice of past, & choice of side dish- potato salad, tossed salad, etc.
Can't beat a costco cake for the price & flavor! $16 for a cake that feeds 50 pple & then I made cupcakes for one cake my daughter could demolish on her 1st. but you could buy them easily anywhere. its just fun to see them go at it!
We had Buono Beef cater. The food was great and not too expensive.
Get your cake from Target. They're delicious and are great at decorating. But also, the 1st birthday child gets their own cake for free!
