There are several homeopathic remedies that can be used for grinding teeth. The most obvious one is Kali-br 12C or Kali-br 30C. Don’t think Whole Foods sells this one. You can order on-line from a place with good customer service, Washington Homeopathic or any other similar places. Try 12C & 30C if one of this does not stop grinding – the problem is worthy of professional homeopathic attention.
Good Luck

Both my kids did this when they had teeth.
It seems to be something babies do.
We took ours to the Dentist, he echoed the same thing. He was not alarmed about it nor worried about it.

You can try and take your child to the Dentist, to make sure.
But it seems to be a phase. At some point, my kids stopped doing this.
In older kids, they may do this as a way to release stress, just like some adults.

But, unless the teeth are getting ground down excessively, I would not worry.

There does not seem to be anything you can do to "stop" it...as babies/children this young do not have any impulse control. And they won't just stop because you tell them too, nor understand wordy explanations about it.

My kids did that mostly while sleeping, unconsciously.

All the best,
Susan

Super normal!

My son started doing this when he began to get his '2 year' molars and his Pedi and his Dentist said it was okay. If it lasted past the usual few months, then we'd have to talk about a mouth guard...but, he stopped so no worries.

If you're truly concerned, get a professional opinion.

Good Luck!

Hey,

I am a Registered Dental Assistant and my dad is a dentist. It is completely normal for babies and toddlers, and sometimes thereafter even, to grind their teeth. Trust me, they'll grow out of it. If anything be relieved baby is normal!!

You might google Vitamin D deficiency. My son had this problem and just increasing his Vitamin D (milk, yogurt, broccoli, etc.) helped. Thankfully learned about this deficiency from another mom. :)

I would definitely check out a chiropractic approach. It certainly made a big difference for me. I can recommend someone in Long Beach, Dr Mark Kennedy. He is on PCH just north of Seal Beach. Contact me if you want his info. In lieu of that, if you don't already have a chiropractor here's a link that finds chiropractors specifically for children. Infants can be adjusted.

My 5 yr old still does it while sleeping. The dentist says it's normal for his age. I have no idea when he is supposed to grow out of it, or if he'll need a mouth guard.

My daughter did that too, it only lasted a few months and she stopped. They learn how to do something new and they do it for a while, next he will bite his nails or pick his nose. They are all just phases, this too will pass.
