I not really sure how to word this but when i put my 16 month old daughter to bed in her crib she lays down on her tummy and will be scooting and grunting. She also puts her hand into her diaper i dont know why she is doing this and is it normal?????? What i was thinking is maybe she has an infection and is itchy????? Idk im not sure. Is there is a way to keep her from doing this???????

BECAUSE OF WHAT OTHERS R SAYING IM SAYING THIS SHE IS NOT BEING TOUCHED OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT AND IS NOT POSSIBLE AND I THINK SHE IS JUST EXPLORING BUT I JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS?????? IF ANYTHING.

MY DAUGHTER IS SO ADVANCED FOR HER AGE SHE BITES HER NAILS AND SHE SAYS ABOUT 20-30 WORDS ALREADY AND ONE DAY SAW A CAT ON TV AND SAID MEOW AND KNOWS SIGN LANGUAGE AND SHE DID THAT HERSELF WE NEVER TAUGHT HER THOSE THINGS.

What can I do next?

I'm voting on itchyness....I'm not going to touch the other theory at 16 mo. I would get her checked by a pediatrition, but that's just me.

There is no possibility of someone abusing her is there? I hate to bring it up but the scooting, grunting, and exploring sounds a little fishy. I'm not sure when normal exploring occurs, my daughter just wasn't doing it at that age.

Dear mom, I think kids putting their hands into their diaper or underwear is just a phase. My 2 year daughter (26 mos) just started doing this about 2 weeks ago and it drives me crazy. But my 4 year old boy did the same (putting his hand into his briefs and even pulling his underwear down at bedtime to look at himself) right after he turned 4 and it only lasted maybe a month and then he stopped on his own. I didn't have to do anything drastic which I am glad as I was at a loss. I am hoping my 2 year daughter will stop soon. I had been warned by a friend mother of boys that this would happen with the boy, I just didn't know it would happen with giirls too.

At 15 months, my daughter started taking off her diaper at naptime. Needless to say, I took that as a sign to start potty training her --she was also waking dry from naps and painting with her poop.

Perfectly natural exploration. Start teaching her about "wet/dry," where poop and pee go, etc.

my daughter did that and still does. she is exploring and finding things and probably ichy, um if she is red at all give her a little cranberry juice or if she has a lot of juice that is not diluted at all then limit the juice intake or dilute it 25 juice 75 water and it might clear up. my daughter still does it and sticks her hand in the back of her diaper and front to scratch and i know she has not been abused at all.

It could be if she is itchy, but most likely just normal exploration. We called my ds "bundy" for months because he would constantly have his hand down there. To a point we had to dress him in onsies all day & night so he would make his diaper leak.

You could take her to the ped if you think she may be itchy, to at least put your mind at ease about that.
