My son had a previous problem with taking his poop out a while ago. I put onies pant outfits and overalls on that solved it. But it is getting warm and we have run into another problem. If son has on shorts or no pants he takes his pee-pee out the side of his diaper and pees!!! I put on the toliet at home before he lays down and it does help some (he will be starting that at the sitters also). But the problem is sometimes he still has to pee while he is sleep or even playing. He does mostly in his sleep and he pees all over the bed. Since it is about to be warm I don't know what I can do. I really need help please. Everyone I ask can not give me any advice. He is happy and claps when does pee in the toliet but he doesn't say pee-pee until he is actually doing. Please help.

In addition to the Toilet Train in a Day book others have suggested (you want the one by Azrin and Foxx. The one by Terri Crane is intended for older kids whereas Azrin and Foxx claim for 20 mos and older - which is still a few months away)

The other book to look for is Diaper Free Before Three by Dr. Jill Lekovic (sp?) Her approach is to start between 9-18 mos, whereas some of the elimination communication books are starting from birth.

It sounds like your son is ready to potty train, but is still young. I used this book called "toilet (potty?) training in a day" this might work for you. it is one intense day but very successful. it sounds like once he realizes what the urge to pee is it will be all downhill for you. good luck!

It sounds like your son is ready to potty train. There's a book which I plan on using with my daughter when she's ready, called "Toilet Training in Less Than A Day". My in-laws used in with my husband and it worked - trained in a day! Good luck!

Put him on the potty before his bedtime and don't give him anything else to drink. Get him up during the night to pee when you wake up to pee. Don't turn on lights to disturb his sleepiness just keep a couple of nightlights to light the way. Put him back to bed with a hug and kiss, mommy loves you and hat's that. Don't strike up a conversation or do anything to stimulate his mind. He'll get use to this routine and before you know it he'll be going like a big boy on his own. Get a rubber sheet on his bed in the mean time.

Using diapers is actually a new practice. Millions of children worldwide don't wear diapers.

Google "elimination communication." You are already doing--might as well keep doing it.

I think he's definitely showing signs of being ready to potty train. Sounds like he doesn't like the feel of having his bodily functions in his diaper. That's a big step. Probably best to try potty training now while he's still doing all these behaviors. In my experience, if you wait till you're ready, it's a lot harder. Hope that helps.

My husband & I invented a sleeper that toddlers can not get off - therfore solving the issue of your son making messes in the crib. It's called the LITTLE KEEPER SLEEPER. As of now, they are long sleeve with long pants, but they are 100% light cotton and do breathe. They'd still be great for night time. We're working on getting some with short sleeves, but are not sure about the timing of them. Check out our website and feel free to contact us! www.littlekeepersleeper.com
