HELP! I'm so completely frustrated. My 15mo. old daughter won't try to eat anything! I've tried all the regulars, and the only things she likes are french toast sticks, peanut butter, and grilled cheese. The hardest thing is that she won't even TASTE new things; she just clamps her mouth shut and turns her head away. She won't even eat a jar of baby food anymore. I'm out of ideas --- HELP PLEASE!

What can I do next?

Hi H.~
At one point, my son would eat nothing but hot dogs and black olives! Yuck!! Just keep trying ~ its a stage and she'll come out of it. My son now eats anything I put in front of him (which is NOT a hot dog)! Keep offering the good stuff and she'll eat it eventually!
Good luck!

I am a mom to a 15 month old also...who has recently decided to perform the "lip clamp" during meal time! One thing that has helped so far, is by giving him his own little plastic toddler spoon or fork, putting some food on it, and saying "You do it!" For what ever reason, he will put it in his mouth if he can do it himself. I have also discovered that freezing Shrek Yogurt in the tube (Go-Gurt I believe is the formal name) has been the best move ever. It has been a great summer treat for him, while giving him some valuable nutrition at the same time. I still hold it for him to make sure he doesn't take too large of a bite. When I walk toward him with one in my hand, I instantly hear an excited "Ummmmmmm!" Good luck!

Just make sure that the bread she is eating in all three of those options is 100% whole wheat and use natural peanut butter. She'll be fine. Will she eat alittle bit of fruit? Some fruits have as many vitamins as veggies. Try canaloupe, peaches, kiwi, berries. Or make a fruit smoothie with plain yogurt, fruit and just alittle bit of juice. Good Luck!!!!

You didn't say: Are you trying to feed her, or just offering it (like on her high chair tray) and letting her decide if she'll eat it or not? Cause my 12 mo old usually gets pretty mad if I try to spoon feed her...she wants to do it. So I just give her soft pieces of food that are cut into bite-sized pieces, and let her at it. Sometimes she eats, sometimes not. These are some things that she eats pretty regularly, just for some ideas (since it sounds like you've run out!):
Sauteed chicken thighs
Black beans
Roasted red peppers
Bananas
Cut up grapes
She loves hot dogs so we get the all-natural/antibiotic-free/preservative-free organic kind from Whole Foods
Morning O's (Cheerios from Whole Foods)
Blueberries
Scrambled eggs
Applesauce (pretty much the only thing she'll let me spoon-feed her, but she starts to get annoyed after a while)

Obviously she eats other stuff but these are her favorites off the top of my head! Sorry if you've already tried letting her feed herself! But really, just keep offering her nutritious stuff, and don't make eating a big issue. Just put a small amount on her tray/plate, that way if she doesn't eat it, it's not a waste to throw it out. You're only responsible for offering her heathful foods at regular intervals - it's her decision whether or not to put it in her mouth.

Try frozen peas. Just put a couple on her feeding tray and let her try them on her own terms. Let her see you eat some and have fun with it. She should like the cold feeling and the sweet taste. Both of my girls loved it. It was different than the usual mush. My girls are now 5yrs and 8yrs and still will eat them if I serve them.
Good luck
