Bananas are always great - and they can hold them and like to peal them with start from mom.
Hi Mamas
I am a 1st time mom to a little peanut, he was born 3 weeks early and at only 4lb 1 oz. He was very healthy and did not spend even one night in NICU thank heavens. He has always been a difficult feeder, takes his milk from the bottle as it drips does not really suck to get it faster, no matter how hungry he should be. At around 6 months I intoduced cereal and veggies to him (Gerber) and he liked them and would eat over the next few months 1-1.5 jars per day. I finally had him having 2 jars a day and formula, then aound 3 months ago he just stopped will not let me bring the spoon to him, will not eat a thing! I should mention he has NEVER been a mouther meaning never puts toys or binki or anything in his mouth by himself, other than his sleve. I thought it was due to his teeth coming through, but even now with 4 nice teeth he still does not want food. Our doc had us switch to Pediasure so that he is getting enough calories as he is crawling and pulling up loads now. Our doc also thought It maybe something to do with neuology, so we saw a specialist and she recommended having a MRI, aggghh so we did that and everything is normal, now what do we do? he is only 18lb and is 30inchs long. He has 3, 8oz pediasure bottles and I have started to mix 2 teaspoons of cereal in with one of his bottles. We have had early intervention come out and now have a Occupational therapist coming once a week (trying to work on his sensory issues) and speech coming once a week. They are working on getting a nutritionist to us. I am sorry about the long message, but would love some comments, info ideas, and to know if anyone else had had this.
Thank you so much mamas for your advice

Try finger foods! My daughter was good w/ the babyfood up until around the same time and she just started not wanting it anymore. Cherios, Gerber's line of finger foods (puffs in all different flavors) - those yogurt puffs & mini-fruits. Try a variety of stuff - macaroni noodles. Anything they can gum they can eat.
Good luck!
You baby sounds as though he has sensory issues with taste. It's more common for babies who were born early to have sensory issues. Mine was born 4 weeks early, is 10 now and has always had eating issues. I FINALLY found the right therapist for him, only it was too late. But it's not too late for you!!! She is with Childrens, her name is Janese Petuchowski ###-###-####. She is hard to get into and has a long wait list, so get on that now and in the mean time get the book Food Chaining. It was written by doctors who specialize in kids who are sensitive eaters, including a doc at childrens. Yours may actually be too young for even Janese, but ask. She usually works with kids of pre-school age.
I often wonder how my 10 year old has survived on just a few foods his entire life, but he is healthy, probably not as tall as he should be, but alive and well.
Also, I used to give him a protein shake when he was little with flax oil added. Spirulina brand makes so many different flavors and you can by it in individual servings to see if there are any he'll try. Start with banana, vanilla and chocolate. The flax is a great source of omega 3's. Good for brain development!
Good luck!
Hi there, I work at a day care center and we are always letting the kids play with sensory pudding, Jello, whip cream ,water and etc. Let them play with it with their fingers and experiment with it. then clean them off. Do this every day. they will get used to it. Soft foods oatmeal. He will start to put it to his mouth. try that first. Good Luck.
Like some of the other moms, my babies stopped liking baby food as well. I would usually mix it in with oatmeal/rice cereal to get them to eat it. I would also put some cinnamon and sugar in the cereal to give it a sweeter taste. I would say keep trying finger foods(cheerios, gerber snacks like the sweet potato puffs, a favorite here). They also have something out there that is like a mesh bag feeder. You can put different fruits etc. in it for them to chew on. However, you said he was not into putting things in his mouth so maybe he would not like it. I bought mine online from One Step Ahead. With the finger foods,I would give them to him where he is standing up/playing and free to move. Good Luck!! It sounds soooo frustrating!!

I would definitely ask for a 2nd opinion. First of all,the manner in which he took his bottle is not normal and someone should have gotten you on the path then.Hopefully, some of the people that are coming out now can help you in finding the right kind of doctor to get things fixed. A nutritionist isn't really want you need. They can only give advice for caloric info. What you need is far deeper in the way of physical help it sounds like. Please don't hesitate any longer and get your little fella some help that he really needs!! Insist on a specialist in the field to get this matter taken care of as soon as possible. Maybe between the OT and Speech therapist one of the two will have a good idea what might be going on and can make a suggestion as to who you need to see next. GOOD luck and don't hesitate long. Let us know the out come. J.
My kids hated babyfood...they wanted what we had, they all started on table food at about 10mo. Does he want table food?
