12 Yo with Stomach Pain

My daughter is 12. She complains about tummy aches often but nothing that ever stops her or slows her down.
However, this past weekend it is making her cry. This morning she complained that it hurt just above her belly button, below her ribs, and radiated into ther back. Changing positions doesn't help. THIS is a different pain she said...not like any other tummy ache. She did have a bowel movement, but it didn't help. Then she took a bath and it helped a little. She rated her pain a "5 and a half" on the 1 to 10 scale. and at one point said it was a 7, but then went back down.
not menstruating yet, no fever, not throwing up, stool is a little loose, but nothing crazy.
I am just waiting for the doctors office to open so that we can make an appointment, but figured I'd ask if this sounds familiar to anyone?

What can I do next?

Hello, maybe I can offer some help for her.
I learnt acupressure points that helps stomachache.
There are 4 points here, they are 5 cms from the navel ( up and down, left and rights). 5 cms is like your three fingers.
Just poke these points with your pointer or middle finger( you must cut your nails though).
Poke each about 30 seconds. If there is a problem, she will be in pain, but bear it. Repeat until no more pain.
She will pass gas after 5 or 10 minutes.
It does help. I do this in my country. Good luck. May she get better soon.

Ulcer maybe or gastridus? Common kid problem from stress. School is such a battleground for them. I remember food would set it off also when I'd get it. Had to watch what I ate. Glad you are taking her to the doctor

This acute problem could be gas, but then I'd wonder why she was getting problems frequently and often complaining of pain. It could be an ulcer. It could be a food sensitivity (gluten, dairy, eggs are common foods people react to). My older daughter often had constipation, and the younger one frequently complained of tummy aches. It tooks us YEARS and YEARS to find out they both cannot have some foods (like gluten and dairy), and needed to be treated for yeast overgrowth, and to take probiotics.

But two other people I know had frequent tummy aches and for both of them, it was a stomach ulcer.

when was her LMP? or has she started yet? She could have a hernia or UTI. Is she throwing up? Can she hold food down? is she running a fever? You don't need to answer all those but these are the things the Dr is going to ask so be prepared. Hope she feels better
