My daughter is 11 months old and she has started to want a bottle more. Her doctor said that she is suppose to take in 24 ounces a day, but she still wants to eat every 2 hours, and waked up through the night for two to three feedings, she is on solid foods and i thought that she would not want a bottle that much

What can I do next?

hello T.-
well i dont agree about the pediatrician giving you a specific amount. an 11 month old is growing, and going through changes. my son turns 1 yr old on the 20th of this month, and he still has days when he wants his bottle all the time. your daughter could still be hungry, or she could be using her bottle as security. have you tried giving her whole milk yet? she's old enough to take it now...maybe try putting some in a cup when she acts hungry after a bottle. stores sell transition sippy cups for little ones. and try feeding her more "table" food then baby food. my son is much happier w/ "big people" food, then baby food. all in all, just trust yourself to know what she needs. if you think she is still hungry, then try some food, milk, biter biscuits, cookies, snacks, etc... eventually you'll hit the jackpot =) good luck & happy holidays.

Does your baby eat cereal? You may want to add a little fruit to the cereal to help fill her tummy. I had the same problem with my son and this seem to work. And also if she will take water this will also help her tummy fell full.

I don't know why your Doctor would tell you how much your child should be eating because each baby is different depending on their activity and growth. I would say your baby is going through a growth spurt and needs more nutrition.

Before she goes to sleep at night, feed her a cereal bottle and give her a warm bath. If she still want's to eat that much, have her pediatrician check her for some kind of intestinal problem. She could have something wrong and it has gone undetected so far. At 11 months old she should be able to go longer than 2 hours without food. When my son was that age and was still wanting his bottle at all hours of the night, I started putting water in a sippy cup and making him sit up to drink it. He didn't last to much longer and started sleeping through the night. Another thing she may be doing is getting attention. She is smart and knows that if she cries, momma comes and gives her attention. Make sure she doesn't have an internal problem and then let her cry a little if your sure she isn't hungry.

How is your baby's weight? My youngest ate constantly and never put on weight. After 5 different docotrs and a hospitalization we found out she has a genetic disorder that causes her to have a super fast metabolism. Check with your doctor first to be sure there isn't a medical reason. Also the 24 ounces is just a base guideline some babies need more and some need less.
